How do you recharge the battery?

The unit is (permanently) plugged into an AC outlet so unless there is a power outage the battery is always being charged or maintained automatically.  When power goes out the battery switches in automatically and powers the outlets on the top for some period of time (depending on power usage of items plugged in).

any way to disable the alarm? (Used for bedroom digital clocks, FPL has many 3 second drop-outs, some in middle of night.)

I am sorry to state that the alarm cannpot be disabled just don't use it for your clock as this ups requires your power to be on or in sleep i used it for my Router and HSI Cable box

why why why why why why not NEMA 5-15 (3-prong) receptacles!!!?????

It is designed for low power devices so it is only 2 prong to keep you from plugging your desktop computer or other high power devices in.

I haven't charged it up in awhile, sounds like crickets when plugged in, any ideas ??

Battery has discharged.  Plug in and let it charge overnight.  if it still is making noise, the battery is bad.
