I got an email that I may be able to answer your question. I have the XS1500 Pro. A Google search for the model you mention shows that it's been discontinued. However, replacement batteries are available for both models. In my experience, manufacturers use standard battery sizes to keep production costs down. So, even if they don't offer the replacement themselves, it's available if you'll pull it and get the information. In your case, there's even a YouTube video detailing how to accomplish the replacement.

How do you know if this external battery pack is working or not? There appears to be no lights on it and no indications on the back ups 1500 main unit?

So on the main unit, it will beep to let you know you have hooked it up and then remaining charge time will increase on the lcd readout. When i plugged mine in, it went from 45 min to just over 2 hours when I plugged in the battery pack. If it isnt working, you will notice the remaining time decreasing.

You can also use the software to see it working by the same method.

RS1500 has two batteries and the extender module has four of the same batteries, so you should see a 2X (or so) increase in run time,
