There is a USB cable included. If you need a longer length than about 6 feet, you can use any USB extension cable. This unit also connects via ethernet, which is the best option because you can log right into the APC / Schneider webpage at  to check the status. If you want to use the Powerchute software that comes with it, you will need a USB 
 cable connection.
