Aquacomputer D5 Next RGB - Black Pump Core, G1/4, 4-Pin Molex, 12V (41118)

The Aquacomputer D5 Next RGB is a D5 coolant pump based on the renowned Laing D5 pump. Its detachable controller unit is equipped with an OLED display, a PWM fan output and RGBpx lighting. It is the pump motor without a top: it needs a compatible D5 pump top/cover or reservoir to run, for example the ULTITOP D5 pump top (41123).

Detachable controller unit with OLED display

Aquacomputer calls the D5 NEXT a coolant pump with outstanding functionality. The Laing D5 motor runs on a ceramic bearing, which Aquacomputer chose for optimum durability and smoothness. The controller unit pulls straight off the motor unit, and Aquacomputer's key point here is easy access to the electrical connectors. All cables can stay plugged in to the controller unit while you install the motor into a pump top/cover or reservoir. Only detach or re-attach it with no power supplied to the pump.

A high resolution OLED display, mechanical buttons underneath it and a touch slider on the bottom side let you configure and adjust the pump even without a PC. The pump can also be configured and monitored over its USB 2.0 interface, and the firmware can be updated via USB. Additionally, current data from the PC, such as temperatures or processor usage, can be sent to the pump. Eight further values can be transferred this way using the aquasuite software, and they can drive the pump, the fan output or the RGBpx illumination. Other features include an alarm buzzer for acoustic alarm indication.

What the loop needs

The pump is not usable on its own: it needs a D5 top/cover or reservoir, held in place by a fixation ring. Aquacomputer names the ULTITOP D5, the D5 pump adapter (41094, 41095) and the aqualis D5 reservoirs (34079, 34080, 34081, 34082). Because the controller unit comes off for fitting the locking ring, the pump also suits tops and reservoirs of many manufacturers.

Power supply is via a SATA connector from your power supply unit. The USB cable goes to an internal USB 2.0 header and is not required for pump operation. Use Double Protect Ultra coolant or water, never a coolant with solid micro particles: those in various opaque coolants damage the D5 pump bearing. The impeller must point up or to the side, never hanging downward, and the pump must not run dry.

Notes

• Internal flow measurement: after deaerating the system, the pump has to run with blocked coolant flow for a short time to calibrate. Kinking a hose does it; with hard tubes a ball valve in the loop is required (not included).
• A fan and a flow sensor cannot be connected at the same time.
• RGBpx products and an aquaero 5/6 via aquabus cannot be connected at the same time.
• With the silicone decoupling fitted, the touch slider is out of reach; the mechanical buttons still work.
• AMBIENTpx effect: screen content protected by DRM or similar methods cannot be used for the effect.
