The Freezer i30 CO is designed for the latest Intel socket 2011, socket 1155 and 1156. With unique technologies, direct touch heatpipes, precision machining, vibration absorption and sturdy mounting system, you can enjoy a plenty of overclocking headroom in virtual silence.
Continuous Operation"CO" stands for Continuous Operation and makes the cooler suitable for PCs with non-stop operation like servers. The Japanese dual ball bearing used reduces rotational friction considerably, and it is much less sensitive to dust and high temperature. Hence, it is up to 5 times more durable than other bearings.
Superior Cooling PerfomanceAn interchangeable 120 mm PWM fan in combination with 4 direct touch heatpipes and a 48-fin heatsink enable the Freezer i30 CO to deliver high performance and improved heat transfer from the CPU. Test results from Hardware Secrets have proved its efficiency, comparing with the stock cooler and other competitors.
Low NoiseThanks to the PWM control, the fan speed adjusts according to the CPU temperature and thus the noise level remains at an absolute minimum which qualifies it as a silent cooler.
Sturdy Mounting MechanismSturdy mounting is offered thanks to the durable steel mounting clip and back-plate*. This mounting system provides excellent mounting stability and is fully transport-proof. (*Socket 2011: Back-plate is integrated in original Intel socket already. Socket 1155, 1156: Additional back-plate is bundled with product.)
Direct Touch Heatpipe HeatsinkIt boosts heat transfer with the 4 double-sided direct touch heatpipes, 8mm in diameter each. Arctic’s unique process (20 2011 000 71.8) ensures the heatpipes are packed tightly together with no gaps between. The increased contact surface and flatness by precision machining lead to enhanced heat transfer from the CPU.
Interchangeable FanNot that you have to replace the fan, but you are offered with the flexibility!
Pros: 1. Quiet 2. Quiet 3. Quiet 4. Cools like crazy 5. Quiet I was torturing the heck out of my i7 and had it to 90 C. Stopped the load program and it dropped to 23 C in mere seconds! Under 80% load the CPU stays below 56 C and the fan is whisper quiet. The price is very fair. I swapped the fan around and have it sucking through. I placed the fan side towards the back of the case and that allows the RAM to be completely open. Some others failed to see that the fan can be flipped. There is even room for the G. Skill RAM cooler. My old mid tower case clears the top of this giant with ease. I wasn't sure if it would. The new cases are much wider, so no problem.
Cons: It is a bear to line up and keep the little standoffs up for the 1150 while balancing the unit. The sticky rings help a lot, but it is still a balancing act. Do NOT try to install this with the motherboard in the case. That would cause too much mental stress. Out of the case, it took about 15 minutes to carefully and slowly install.
Overall Review: I would get another in a heartbeat.
