Is this board Wi-Fi only, or can you connect via Ethernet cable?

This board is equipped with dual gigabit ethernet, so yes it's capable of a wired connection. The Taichi and Gaming i7 models are the ones with integrated wifi, but the Gaming K6 lacks that module.

Does this board allow for CPU overclocking?

Yes, it does quite well. There are other problems I have discovered about this board that I don't like. The lack of USB ports has forced me to buy add-on cards. I have yet to figure out how to turn off my computer, it reboots constantly. Microsoft says it is a hardware problem and AsRock has no answer. I can't turn it off with the case power switch, I need to use the power supply switch during post.

Question 3

I have 1 -16 gb stick of ddr4 ram, which slot should it go in? Can it boot with just one? I plan to add another for 32gb soon. Thanks!

The manual will tell you the optimal configuration. It doesn't matter for one stick of ram but it will matter when you add the 2nd. I recommend putting your 1st ram in the 2nd slot. The manual then tells you to put the 2nd stick in the 4th slot to enable dual channel. Don't forget to flush your CMOS with a jumper or screwdriver with the power off & disconnected when you add or change your memory configurations.

Can someone clarify on these 3 statements from the description:
- Supports 8th Generation Intel Core Processors (Socket 1151) 
- * Not backward compatible with older generation of LGA 1151 CPUs 
- 8th Gen Intel CPU supports DDR4 up to 2666.

1) I have seen 2 reviews here explicitly stating they're running an i7-8700K processor with RAM exceeding 2666 MT/s.  So, what gives?
2) What constitutes as "older generation LGA 1151"?  7th, 6th, 5th generation?

- this motherboard only supports 8th gen Intel CPUs. There are older CPUs that are LGA 1151 but will not fit the socket in this motherboard. This only supports the 8xxx Intel chips. Don't even think about trying to fit a 7xxx or 6xxx Intel CPU chips.
- Intel specifically says the 8th gen CPUs natively support up to 2666 DDR4. However, this motherboard let's you OC RAM so you can use RAM exceeding 2666 when you OC but you will only get diminishing returns from doing so. I think 3200 mhz is still the sweet spot the last time I checked. As always, you should check the motherboard manufacturers website to see if your specific ram is supported.
-Yes, older gen LGA 1151 would be the 7th gen and 6th gen Intel chips AKA Skylake and Kaby Lake. These cpus won't fit this motherboard. I repeat, this motherboard only works for 8th gen Intel CPUs, Aka 8xxx series, aka Coffee Lake ONLY.

You can put a bluetooth/wifi chip in a m.2 slot but it doesn't come with one.

Question 6

Any reason that the Fatal1ty Z370 Gaming K6 wouldn't be compatible with BLS4K16G4D26BFSE / BLS4K16G4D26BFSB memory?  Crucial's website says it is incompatible but I think that's because these boards are too new and they haven't updated their memory compatibility tables.

I have never run into a problem using non tested memory on my previous asRock MBs. Just means they didn't test it in house.  If they are really high speed the new z370 chip set needs slightly different memory timing settings than z270 mbs.

Question 7

If I use the PCIe x4 slot (PCIEe6 = bottom-most slot) for a USB expansion card (with PCIEe x4 lanes), and I have 1 graphics card at x16 on PCIe2 slot (top most slot):
1) Are any of the other 3 PCIe x1 slots disabled?
2) What is the maximum number of lanes available for the PCIe4 slot (which has max x8 lanes)?  My guess is if I stick another card (graphics card or other) it will drop to PCIe2=x8/PCIe4=x8/PCIe6=x4.
3) On a related note, back to the scenario above of 1 graphics card on PCIe2 and 1 USB card on PCIe6, how many lanes will the graphics card have?  x8 or x16?

Question 3 :  16.  However, use of NVMe drives may impact available lanes....if 2 used, some SATA 3 ports are disabled
Best to dowload and read manual.....dont believe any slots are disabled, a 2nd GPU may run at 8 and not 16....not sure

can you dual monitor with HDMI ports?

No, there's only one HDMI port. There's an HDMI and a DVI. You can dual monitor, but no 144hz support. 1080p 60hz is fine though.

I see this motherboard is on sale. Does that mean they are clearing out the returns? or do i get a new one.
one last question. What is the difference between this and the extreme 4? cant get the comparison feature to work. thanks

No, technology my son. Prices go down when things are not new anymore. I bought mine on sale in November an it arrived in new condition. I love it! The extreme 4 and the k6 are pretty much the same board with slightly different features, both great for overclocking. The k6 has dual lan ports which is why i bought it. It also has an error code read out and power and reset buttons on the MOBO in case you run into install issues. Hope this helps.

Is there a way to control any RGB strips that light up using the board?

Yes, MOBO has program built into BIOs to control RGB. Strips must be plugged into the RGB MOBO header to use this feature.
