Question 1

Is this a Gen 1 or Gen 2. Also will it work with ps4?

I do not have a ps4 but it sure works with my xbox fine. so coulkd work for your ps4 as well. i believe its gen2 its specially made for the xbox but i got it to work for my Pc, you might have to look for the ones made for ps4 maybe because it came with a controller adapter or maybe its not needed because i haven't really used that adapter and i've been able to talk/hear people online.

Question 2

is this for xbox only or can this be use for pc?

I use this as my daily headset on my PC. It is very good for PC as well as PS4 and Xbox One actually. The color is the only thing that makes this the "Xbox" edition.

Question 3

How long does the battery last after say 2-3 months? AND if i had an older pair of Astros can i use the longer charger cable for these?

My battery lasts  at least 12 hours and I use my Xbox controller charging cable so I'm sure any work.

Question 4

Even though they say "gaming headset for xbox one" are they still compatible with other platforms like previous A50s such as PS4 or PC?  Because the other A50s became unavailable at the same time this came out and I don't think new egg would trade multi-platform A50s for singular console headphones.

No it can be used for multiple platforms. When I was deciding which pair to buy I looked at the difference between all of the different versions, and the only difference between them is... this one has an extra part! The part that connects it to the Xbone controller.... well that and it is a much cooler color. So I bought this one... and I don't even have an Xbone. I use it for my pc :) The PC one is currently being bundled with a USB transmitter that isn't necessary.
