No, Microsoft Office software was not included when I purchased this laptop.

You may consider looking in to OpenOffice, a free alternative to Microsoft's Office suite.

does this laptop come with a plug for other types of wall sockets? (like the european one's)

No it does not. The power adapter is actually different than traditional laptops power supplies. Look at the pic. the large part of the PS plugs into the wall and there is just 1 large cord. On a side note my wife loves it and is able to play a any game that she wants with it.

Does this have the 2 second start time coming out of sleep and such like the Vivobook?

I immediately swapped the hd with a ssd and windows 7, and after that, it takes almost no time to start and recover from sleep.  Completely factory I do not believe it had that.

Does this computer have a slot for an ethernet cable so i can connect it to my xbox for a xbox live connection? like i do with my current laptop.

Yes, the X550LB does have "1 x RJ45 LAN Jack for LAN insert ".  It is cleverly made low profile on the left side and partially hidden by a small door that.  As far as connecting to an xbox I have no idea as I have never tried that.

It is an impressive laptop that is quite speedy, great graphics and runs very cool.

Question 6

What is the chance that I could remove Win 8 and install Win 7 on this computer successfully?  Would I need to wipe the drive then install?  Or can it even be done?

Asus doesn't offer any windows 7 drivers for this laptop.  That doesn't mean you couldn't do it, but you'd have to find external drivers, all individually, and there's a good chance some hardware wouldn't work.

I did this for a different laptop and the soft touch keys were impossible to find a driver for (this was for vista) bit everything else worked.

What sort of temperatures are considered overheating for this product?

I honestly do not know at which point the laptop will overheat. But I found a website that may be helpful to you. Two free programs that can help you see your laptop's temperature are Speed Fan and Real Temp.

Does this item have a touch screen?

No. This is not a touch screen.

Sorry. I answered this wrong the first time. I bought 2 laptops for both my kids and I thought this was the touch screen but it is not.

Can this run graphic intense games? Like battlefield 4? I don't really care about graphics, I just care about FPS. Thanks.

As soon as my husband opens it for xmas I will reply with an answer. I was told from my IT director that this laptop is great for games. Have you called Asus directly?? They can actually answer it quick for you just give them the model your requesting info on.

Does this laptop overheat when running games? What sort of games can you run without overheating?

I have not had any overheating problems playing games. Seems to stay pretty cool during games. Played Path of Exile for 3 hours no problem. Have not played too much league of legends on it though yet. Need to buy a gaming mouse for it.

It's an awesome computer for the price. Just hate windows 8.
