Do I need this terminal to use Aura sync? Or will I still be able to sync my Aura-Sync capable devices together without it?

No you do not need it to use Aura sync. The AS is built into the motherboard, at least on mine. I purchased the terminal in order to have more connection points for extra items such as fans and strips. This just lets you add additional items to the AS. If you keep to what your system provides for then you do not need this.
