Question 1

I have been using Win7 on this for over a year and now want to move to Win8 but can't find Win8 on this pc. ASUS VIP  via email confirmed my machine had Win8 but couldn't tell me how to get to it.
Phone support would not believe my machine had two operating system.
Any ideas?

Hello Stephen,
My ASUS came with a Win 8 DVD.  I also thought that both Win 7 and Win 8  were on the machine, but they are not.  The Win 8 DVD has a warning that if you install it the Win 7 is gone for good.

Question 2

Dimensions?  The dimensions listed do not reflect the image of the chassis.  What are the true dimensions?

I see that this systems comes with 4GB ram, but upon reading the information that apoears when you click ob the specs tab that it says ram memory capacity is 4GB. I don't want to assume this is a misprint, because I've been burned before. Can anyone confirm that they were able to upgrade the ram memory over 4 GB? Thanks in advance :)

I bought 2 of these for our office a couple of years ago. I upgraded the RAM to 8GB on each when they came in. The memory capacity in the spec must be a typo.

Can you upgrade the  4 GB RAM to 12?

1. I'm not expert.
2. The warranty says it's voided if you open the case.
3. I did ask/complain to ASUS about #2 b/c the sell sheet says tool -less upgrade.
4. i did open my case and found 4 DIMM slots with only one occupied, so yes it can be upgraded.
5. The 4gig stick is made by Kingston and has a "model number" that starts with ASU. But neither Crucial or Kingston has the BM1AE in their "memory finder".
6. I want to upgrade to 8gig. Two days ago I emailed Kingston asking what 4gig model would match teh 4 gig I now have but have not heard back.

how much to purchase an additional 12 GB of DDR3 Ram that will install and work properly with this, or can i order it with it?

You usually can't do any type of configuration modifications to these types of machines at time of purchase.  You will have to buy the memory separate and install it yourself.  We have been very happy with this machine as a workstation and will order more as we replace older machines.  I added another 4gb of memory to the machine, but can't seem to find the model of memory in my Newegg history.  Look in the Asus product manual for the system, it will list compatible ram.  8gb of ram (2x4gb sticks) will run around 55-60 USD.  The motherboard has 4 ram slots, I can't remember how they were populated, if I recall it was 2x2gb sticks.  If so then you can go to 12gb, if it was 4x1gb sticks, then you will only be able to get to 10gb.  My recommendation since ram is so check would be to get 2x8gb sticks for around 100 bucks and be done with it.

It's very confusing because the literature that came with indicates in one paragraph that W8 will come up and another paragraph indicates that W7 will come up. What did come up is W7. I keep getting an Asus bios message that I can't figure out what to do with. My initial call to Asus was disappointing. I'm going to try again.

Question 7

I am having trouble adding memory to the MB.  The 2 clips that release the memory from the board are not the same.  One works fine the other does not move.  How do you open the non-standard clip to remove the existing memory chip?
