Does this product work with win 10?

I've had no issues with drivers or anything. Getting it to play encrypted Blu-ray without paying for some licensed proprietary software is another matter.

Does it include cables?
Will it work wit a HP Pavilion Elite HPE?

I don't recall it coming with cables. All it requires is the standard sata power cable and sata data cable. The power cable should come from your power supply (no purchase) and the data cable can be bought for less than $5 from wherever you want really.
The HP machine you mention comes with Sata, so the drive will work with that motherboard.

Question 3

Does this include software necessary to play the discs without having to do extensive research?

This does not include software to play Blu ray. You will have to buy that separately.

Question 4

Is this drive all black? I've seen this same model before and it was solid black.

It looks like pictured with a black face plate and gray metal body.  The only thing that is not pictured is the disc tray which is black.

I am doing a build with the Corsair Air 540 but the drive mounts are vertical so the question is..............    Is it possible to mount this drive vertically?????????

In response to "can the ASUS Blu-Ray Burner BW-16D1HT be mounted vertically?", I believe that it can. It has tabs in the tray which would appear to hold the disc in place while opening and closing the tray. I mounted mine horizontally. Ive' not yet burned any discs but, reads and writes are quick.

Can this drive burn/play CDs?

Yes it could.  However, it ability to write a disc failed after limited use. It can still read a disc but I bought it to write Blue ray discs, which it no longer can do.

Question 7

My case only has a spot for a CD drive slot that is vertical so my question is can this Burner run in a vertical position correctly?

I have mine running in horizontal position, but, because it has small hooks on the tray that will keep a disc in place when it is in vertical position, and the fact that the location in which the disc is placed is recessed, I am sure it will be running fine that way.

Question 8

My virtual machine guest OS (Win 7 x64) doesn't see ANY media put in the drive. Says "please insert a disk". But works well in the Host OS. Any idea why?

Hi,
I am running windows 7 64 Bit. I don't have a problem with the drive. Maybe its not setup correctly. Go into computer management and make sure its setup correctly. Also check device manager and have  it reinstall the driver.
Maybe you accidentally got a bad drive. The drive is part of my new computer so, I did a fresh install on windows.

Yes, this BluRay drive does support 3D playback with proper software. The software that it comes with it might need to be upgraded to 'Pro' for this to work, or the use of some other software that supports 3D. The drive supports 3D though, as well as 'M Disk', the 1000 year storage disks.

It's an internal drive, fits a standard drive slot. External usually have a protective case. This could be used out of a port but then static discharge and overheating would become a concern.
