No it does not. You could, of course, attach a portable DVD drive to one of the three USB ports. I've only had this a few days and find Win8 infuriating, but this little notebook is awesome. Be prepared to spend some time using the tutorials if you are new to Win8 and be sure to take advantage of the free update to Win 8.1 available through the MS app store.

Does it have Adobe reader installed or do I have to pay to have it?

It has Adobe Reader,  but will need updated.  You should never pay for Adobe Reader as it is free from Adobe,  just go to their website and click on the downloads link.

I read the reviews about immediately updating Windows 8 to 8.1 the very first thing. They said it runs like a turtle till you do. How do I do that? I just got it delivered this afternoon and I want to get the iso or whatever way it is to update ASAP. Please instruct me...THANKS!

To upgrade this laptop, Before you do any thing you have to turn off windows defender and the firewall in the control panel then click on windows update and run the program this will take some time!!! after you finish updating Win 8 in control panel click on troubleshooting and look for Windows update troubleshooter run this program this will save you a lot of problems as the upgrade takes a long long time. Now go to the start screen and look for windows store open it and look for the windows update to download win.8.1 upgrade. Note: this takes some time, it may look like it's not doing any thing but it is. It may take 3 or 4 hrs.
but it is worth the wait. good luck, I've had mine for a few months Before the update it is a pig but after the update it sings and dances, A very good laptop for it's size.

Sounds like you have an issue.  I have had this laptop since December and have not had any issues with charging to date.

Is this a bonified ASUS product? A search of the ASUS website doesn't reveal this device ever existed.

Go to Ausus Web site and look in service and support
look down in select Model Manually, Next go to product select
notebook, under series select F102 Series Under Model 
select F102BA after that confirm selection after that you can find any info you need. YouTube also has a few videos on this product.
This is a very good product after you update it to Win 8.1 Out of the box this notebook is a pig once updated it's very good hope this helps.

Will this support Sims 3 game play?

It should, I was able to run a few games of mine from Steam and had little issues with it . Not sure on the requirements for Sims, I ran Sins of a Solar Empire, Banished, and a few others.

Got this model for christmas gift,  gave it a password, and  yep  forgot the password to get into machine.   Customer service wants $195  to help. Any ideas on how to reset password without having to reinstall windows?

I don't know how tech savvy you are, but you can reset the password a variety of ways.  Newegg doesn't allow me to post links to external sites.  If you reply to this message again I'll see it. and can try to send some links that may help.

But if you google, "how to reset windows 8 password using command prompt" and click on the first link (which for me is a site called pc support (dot) about (dotcom)

That should lead in the right direction.

One review said that this computer was "very very slow". Would I be able to watch YouTube videos or Netflix without a ton of buffering? All I want to do is use this for watching online videos, word processing, and occasionally Excel and PowerPoint. Would this be a good machine for me?

Youtube and netflix work fine, I connect HDMI at home and at friends house to watch movies all the time. Even does well at work on 65" LCD

I haven't seen this model ever listed with 4GB memory.  Is that listing correct?
