Question 1

I'm With Ken on this regarding the power supply. According to Nvidia, a 600w power supply is the minimum required to run a gtx 780 card however this computer build comes with a 500w. Can we can an answer on this please?

Card manufacturers always overcompensate, so they list much higher amounts than required since they don't typically know what other parts you'll use in a build. So far, the computer has been running wonderfully for me with the 500w supply and I played titles like Far Cry 3, Sleeping Dogs, Crysis 2 and others at nearly ultra settings at 1440p and the system barely made a noise. Runs super cool, super quiet, no matter how much I try to crank up the settings. :)

how do u get the 750w power supply upgrade? and can u get windows 7 instead?

The system has a ~500w off-label generic PSU installed. The 750w PSU was/is (as of a week ago) bundled into the order and shipped separately as a combo/bundle 'gift' rather than fixing the problem at the factory. BTW, you'll be tearing the warranty sticker when you pull the side cover.

When you do pull the cover, note the clever abomination bracket *drilled* into the GPU cover to screw it down to the chassis. That's a *special* kind of something ...

It also ships with Win 8.0, so you'll be facing ~1.25GB of updates before 8.1 is available in the store.

The exact application we needed it for at the last minute didn't quite work, but I suspect a combo of nvidia drivers, win 8, and our conflicting obscure applications as opposed to any issue with the system itself.

Question 3

500W power supply? that sounds disastrous to me. Need at least 750W imho. Why even build a high end computer with insufficient power supply...everything else seems just fine.

500w is fine so far with 3tb hd, sd drive and graphics, its fine. However, my purchase included free 750watt that I will probably install but not needed as of yet. Very happy with performance.

can we get this same computer with a 850 power source ?

You don't need anything more than 500w. Card manufacturers overcompensate requirements so there's extra room for other demanding parts. Both the 780 and the i7 4770 in this set are extremely power friendly and I've been running super demanding titles at ultra setting in 1440p since I bought the computer without any problems. Barely even makes a sound when it's running full steam! :)

Is the  power supply right a gtx 780 needs a 650w ?

It ships with a 500W power supply from Asus.  I see that today NewEgg has a promotion for a free upgrade to a 750 watt power supply if you buy this machine.
