Desire to ADD a 240GB SSD.   Does a disk bay exist with wiring in place to add the SSD?

There are 3 3.5" internal drive bays, one is used by the HD.  I assume you'll need to get a 2.5"->3.5" adapter.  There are also additional 4 pin molex, and SATA power plugs.  The MB also has 2 additional 'case fan' plugs available.
I bought this for an Engineer who didn't need it, it's a rather nice little machine - the power button is not obvious unless you're looking at the machine head on.

Is the 8gb DDR3 upgradeable? to what max?

Yes, the DDR3 can be expanded, albeit limited. The RAM module in this machine arrives with is a single module of 8gb....so there would be no issue upgrading by adding another 8gb stick. Only problem: Motherboard only has TWO ram slots, so the max you'll probably be able to go is 16gb - which is plenty (this isn't the kind of machine you'd need more than that in, anyway). The speed of the ram is also good - ran PCbenchmarks and the ram is right up there - but an upgrade to Gskill or another aftermarket module may yield better results due to the stock units not furnishing thermal heatsinks.

I have never opened the case.  This PC was purchased for a non-technical user, not actually my system.

I purchased this in November of 2013 as long as there has been no change since then it is a 64 bit.

Can I have dual monitors with the video card that is installed?

I will look to see when I get into work tomorrow. I installed a 2gb video card just because I wanted dual dvi monitors hooked up. Most of these computers give you a VGA and dvi ports and in most cases hdmi as well. I have several computers around the office that have those and dual works perfectly but I was lookin to have the same video quality output. That's why I went with a separate video card.

incomplete.  If anyone can answer them I would be greatly appreciative.  Thank you.

Too many questions.  They should be asked of the manufacturer.  However, I am not sure that they even know.  I had nothing but problems with the installed software modified by ASUS for the unit.  They even had the wrong drivers for audio and video in their package.  Despite working with them in detail, the "engineer" assigned had no clue and just kept telling me to reinstall the entire system using the recovery process.  Well, the recovery process didn't work either.  I had made the recovery disks during start up.  Examination of them on another computer showed they were plain garbage.

I found ghosts of Windows VISTA in the software and other anomalies.  All these I reported.  I continued to get canned answers.  Solution:  I had my own operating system for WIN 7 Pro and installed it on top of everything.  I located and installed the proper drivers.  I avoided anything  associated with ASUS.  I recovered my programs from a WIN OLD folder created by the new O/S install using my own discs.  The license number on the case was accepted by Microsoft.  Note that the license sticker on the case lacked the Microsoft safety features (holograms and bands) and looked more like a color copy.

Short version:  The computer runs great and at least three times faster that when the ASUS package it came with was in operation.

How is the noise level?  Do you have the sound level numbers?

Very quiet operation. you can barely hear it at all.

can it get 400-500 watt power supply?

I have not opened the case, so unable to tell you what power supply is in it.  That being said, I would think you can purchase another power supply of the desired wattage, and install it.  Should be but maybe 4 hex head screws and all of the connections.  Just make sure you get any video card connectors that may be needed.

do you pre-install dual monitor video card?

You may want to check on whether you can use the hdmi and the vga simultaneously. But, otherwise you would want to put in a card that does support dual monitors if that's your goal. Definitely you'd have an easier time setting it up in windows by getting a card that has dual outputs for the type of connection you want to use.
