I see conflicting answers, is this version of windows x64?

Probably the first computers of this model came on the market that had installed windows 7 x86, but the last, which is currently being sold have to have the x64 version of windows 7, and, if you takes too time to decide when you already have windows 8.1.

Windows Home Premium 32 or 64 bit?

Happy to help, but not sure what you mean.  I looked under Start Menu / All Programs and Windows Home Premium does not show up there.  I use Office 2013, if that helps at all.  Where else would I look, and how would I figure out if it is 32 or 64 bit?  Been happy with the computer, though.  Need excellent processor as I use Dragon Naturally Speaking 12 for both dictation and mouse commands.  Operating everything by voice is memory intensive, and slower computers just freeze.

Does this come with a windows 7 disk?

It came with a recovery cd with win7 on it.  I had the computer for less than 3 weeks and mistakenly installed some malware, so I erased the hard drive and started from scratch with the recovery disc no problem.

does this computer have wireless internet or does it need to be plugged into a router with ethernet cable?

It is not equipped with wireless internet.  You will need to purchase and install a wireless card.  Look inside the case and make sure the one you buy will fit in one of the spare slots.  It's a PCI-E slot as I recall.    They are fairly easy to install.   The computer itself has been great for me.

Would this computer be good for playing games?

The processor is capable of playing games.  I would suggest purchasing a decent GPU and add another 8GB stick of RAM to play the more intense games available today.   Should give you several years of game play without the need to upgrade the CPU.

Is there space for adding memory? I need at least 16GB

I'm sorry, but I bought this and had it shipped directly to my daughter in Florida. The specifications say that the "memory capacity is 8GB". I don't know whether there is an additional slot.

The ASUS has 2 dimm slots. It has 1 dimm populated with 8gb so you could put another on in the other dimm slot. Max 16.

Is this unit upgradable to 16GB?  I have a mouse and keyboard - how much for tower DVD, CD only?  How many USB ports?

Yes, the i7 processor is part of Intel's Haswell line which is the fourth generation of the Core series.
