How long is the included cable?

no more than 18 inches, not terribly flexible. The connection to the monitor is also somewhat small and theoretically problematical. That being said, I just got back from a week long vacation, and it was a perfect  2nd monitor to go along with my macbook (running windows). You just have to be careful with the setup and arrangement.

Question 2

If my laptop can support 3 monitors (2 external + 1 built-in), is there any reason I wouldn't be able to connect 2 of these?

No reason. You can have up to 6 display link monitor along with how ever number of external monitor your PC support.

Note that the display link uses your processor for graphic. So  don't go crazy unless you have a strong cpu

Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: Mostly. Simply install the driver (on the provided CD or from the displaylink website) and it'll work. There are caveats, however. Auto-rotation and screen brightness are done with additional software provided by Asus that is not currently available for mac. That said, you're not exactly missing out; rotation can be controlled in "System Preferences" -> "Displays" and the brightness control is a gimmick anyway. In reality, the way Asus dims / brightens the screen is not the same as in your regular monitor (by adjusting the backlight). Rather, they do it with software by overlaying a mostly-transparent dark layer on top of what would otherwise be drawn on your screen. It's a trick. So you're stuck at "maximum brightness" but, in reality, so are the window's folks with "brightness" control.

Question 4

Looking to purchase portable monitors for personnel to take on road.  They all have different models of laptops - does operating system matter with this product?

I have used w/ no issues on multiple Windows desktops/laptops & Microsoft OS's.

The monitor uses 'Displaylink' drivers...so as long as Apple (and Unix/Linux) has drivers...should work.

I believe (99%) there are drivers for Macs.....but I don't any so never invested time researching that.

I love mine and have traveled out of country w/ it.  Only issue I have found is different laptops have different output voltages to power usb devices.  I owned a Surface Pro that had no issues powering this monitor...but an upgrade to the Surface Pro 3 and I needed external power (via powered hub/etc) to get it working.

Is this compatable with windows 7?

It works great with Window 7.  I love it, gives me that extra real estate when I'm on the road.  Very light, bright screen, only one I could find at the time up to 1024 (I also have the AOC but the screen is too small.)

I did end up getting a retractable USB 3 cord (more flexible and longer reach) and a tripod stand (easier to setup than the built-in case.)

Has anyone successfully used an long length USB 3.0 cable with this monitor?

such as 'Rosewill 6.56ft. USB3.0 A Male to A Female Extension Cable, Black, Model RC-6-USB3-AM-AF-BK' 
or 'Coboc CY-U3-AAMF-15-WH 15 ft. White SuperSpeed 5Gbps USB 3.0 A Male to A Female Extension Cable,Gold Plated,White'

I read someone (on another site) stated they couldn't get this to work with their 9 foot USB cable.

Sorry Andrew, I am not qualiefied to answer your question.
I have only used the monitor with the cable supplied with the unit.
Maybe you would have to put a powered 3.0 USB hub in between to boost the signal....

Question 7

I have a laptop running Windows 7 Professional Service Pack.   Do I need to load drivers with this configuration?  
  My computer is security locked, meaning I cannot load any programs or drivers without a long review  by the government IT security team.  So, if I can use it without loading additional drivers, I'll buy several.

In order for your PC to recognize this display you will need to install driver called DisplayLink.

I was an admin on both computers where I installed this driver so I can't tell if you have to be an admin.

I guess that as with any Windows driver you have-to have admin rights to your PC.

You can try to install it even without actual monitor to see if Windows will allow you. Just search Google for the DisplayLink driver.

Question 8

USB 3.0 to USB 3.0? Is the cable included the only way to hook up this monitor? I want to plug this into my Mini-ITX build through USB 3.0 to Usb 3.0.

No there is no other way, the USB 3.0 cable. It is a unique fitting on the end of the monitor, the other end looks like a regular USB.

Note the cables that come with these monitors are a bit finicky. I always buy beefier cables which you can find here on Newegg.

I'm looking for a USB 2 Powederd Monitor That is VESA compataible 16" to 20" ?

I run my MB168B on a USB2 output. It works fine for me. If I switch it to the USB3 it does seem to give a slightly faster response, but I find the USB2 to be totally acceptable for everything I do with my ASUS laptop.
