can i rip my movies to my own computer?

Yes. I don't use their DVD-Cloner tool, but I did pay for AnyDVD to allow me access to a factory movie disc (that I legally own) and then Handbrake or CloneBD or CloneDVD work just fine for that. I have an HTPC and I've ripped every Blu-Ray I own. This was much faster than the drive it replaced.

You mention this unit can play 4k DVDs with the right software. What software do I need to install?

Probably pretty much any media product that says it supports 4k UHD playback. Really what the seller is telling you is that the firmware on this drive is the correct version to be able to read a 4k disk, since the latest version specifically disables that feature. If you use makemkv it is also the version that is "libre drive" compatible. It is a good drive, you are paying extra to have it flashed with the older firmware. If all you want is to play 4k media, there are others that officially support this cheaper, this is more for making backup copies (ripping) of your own media.

This drive states 4k friendly. This drive have the older firmware that is capable of UHD copy?

'Copy'? You may copy onto your hard-drive.  Remember this drive does not 'write' UHD format.  It only reads.

The 4K "UHD friendly" has a special third party installed bios that when paired with appropriate software such as Blu-Cloner 2020 allows you to reproduce copy protected items in BluRay and 4K. It is NOT standard off the shelf hardware.
