I have a B85M-G43MSI motherboard is this the right chip to use? also I can't seem to get the the computer running windows 10 to recognize the TPM chip on the board, I have changed all the setting in Bios for the TPM, but no luck when I call up Run to find it,it still says TMP not installed, any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

Nope. Your board is too old. This is TPM 2.0. Your board supports only TPM 1.2. Even though it is the same 14-1 pin connector the pinout is different. I do not know the correct MSI 14-1 pin TPM 1.2 module part number. You need to get a newer board if you want TPM 2.0 support.

The picture of the board is not good, but it appears to have the higher pin count associated with the older (and less secure) TPM 1.2 specification ASUS module (not this one).  Since ASUS unhelpfully mentions only TPM header in their specs, you should check with them.  Also, if you are using Windows 10, know that since (I believe) version 1607, the default behavior for newly discovered TPM hardware is to "create a really good owner password to protect your decryption keys and then throw it away."  Therefore, if you want to program the TPM (requires TPM ownership), you need to set a registry policy value prior to installing the TPM, which will allow you to preserve the owner password.  I initially thought my TPM was bad because it didn't let me reset the owner password.  Live and learn.

I'm aware of the paranoid rumors out there regarding TPM 2.0 but unless you are risking national security interests, I wouldn't be concerned.

Would this works on a P9x79E-ws?

I took me less than 90 seconds to download the manual from ASUS and look this up for you.  On page XIII, it says that the TPM module for this M.B. is a 19-1.  This one you're asking about is a 14-1, so NO, it won't work.

I have an MSI x570 Godlike motherboard.  This looks to be pin compatible.  Will it work there?

You should read your MSI Motherboard User Guide very carefully for the answer.  If the answer is not definitive, go to their website!  A year and a half ago, I paid Eleven Eighty-Nine for this same Item for my ASUS Motherboard, including taxes.

Hello, are you talking about the ASRock Fatal1ty B450 Gaming K4? If so, that motherboard does not support the 14-1 pin TPM module. According to the manual, you will need a 17-pin TPM module (TPMS1).
