will this item "blue tooth" with a cell phone?

No, this is specific to wireless devices mainly used in wireless home and office networking. This broadcasts to the 802.11 standard of a/b/g/n/ac signals.

A blue tooth pci card will be much less expensive than an ac-rated wireless networking card as well. Keep in mind that this is an internal computer device and will need to be installed by someone mildly experienced. Your computer may even have Bluetooth on it already depending on how old it is, or the features that it offered.

Question 2

Can this be used without the external antenna base and plug the antenna directly into the card?

Yes it can. The base is connected to the card by three cables that screw into the card. The antenna's are then screwed to the base. The antennas and cables all use the same connector. The base is also magnetic, so I just have mine stuck to the back of my computer case. This just lets the antenna's stick up above my case, which gives me better signal strength.

Can anyone recommend a router to maximize this card?

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this card.  The problem is that it
can not connect consistently at 1300 Mbps for the 5 GH Hz.  My average speed is about 866 Mbps - Although this is fast enough  for streaming 1080p HD videos without any stuttering, the cost of this adapter is way too high.  I am using this with a Netgear R7000 AC router and can not get my 2.4 GHz connect speed about 230 Mbps.  
You may have better luck pairing this adapter with the latest Asus AC 
router.

Yes I have mine running on a multi-band wireless N router right now. It is the fastest wireless connection I have in the house because the ASUS PCE-AC68 connects to both the 2.4GHz and the 5.0GHz bands simultaneously.

Can anyone tell me how long the antenna cable is?

It's unfortunately not very long.  3 feet tops.  It's worth it though! I paired this with an 802.11ac ASUS router and I'm getting faster speeds that I originally did with ethernet.  It's crazy!

My download is 3mbps and upload is 0.75mbps, how much will my speed increase?

assuming that what is limiting you speeds is you internet provider, this will not improve your speed at all.  you'd be fine with 802.11n.  If you should be faster, this might improve.  This will definitely help with transfer from one computer to another on your network

my son's new Origin desktop computer didn't come with wireless internet capability - will this solve the problem, please?

Yes, this will provide you with an excellent wireless network connection using latest and fastest standards currently available (called Wifi AC). I love mine. It is very fast.

However, you will also need a 'wireless router' to connect the computer to. You might have one, but if not, search the Newegg store for "wireless router". I will recommend the "ASUS RT-AC68U Wireless-AC1900 Dual Band Gigabit Router IEEE 802.11ac" router. This is the one I use. It is made by ASUS and is considered a matched set with the equipment you want to get for your son's computer. The router is the device the computer connects to (wirelessly) and hooks up that computer to your external internet service provider (such as Comcast, or Centurylink as examples - there are many). This provides you the link from your home to the Internet itself.

You should be able to, but it depends on a lot of factors. I get a much better signal with this than I've had with any wireless card in the past. If you are able to connect to the router without problems from close by, then it is likely that a better card will help.

Question 9

Does this adapter run at slower speeds when used with a non ASUS router? I have purchased a Netgear 1900 & was planing on putting this card in the computer that I have upstairs. But if ASUS only wants it to run at top speeds with ASUS routers than I would rather purchase the Intel card.

Without doing any research, I would guess that the technology (AC) is the same. However, the Netgear may use a different form of beam forming which may or may not work correctly with the Asus adapter. You should be able to connect just fine with good speeds, but I can't speak to the possibilities of obtaining maximum possible transmission speeds. A Netgear rep would probably recommend their own adapter to pair with their router.

Do I need to have a router with 3 antenna as shown in the pictures, or will this work with the modem I have, which provides my wifi?

The number of antennae doesn't matter. This will work with any WiFi router. If you buy this card I would not install the software that comes with it. it caused my browsers to run very slowly. I'm using Windows 10. I uninstalled the software and just used the windows drivers that automatically load (plug and play), and then everything ran great. Lastly, you can attach the three antennae to the base as shown to position it where you get the best signal or you can screw each antenna directly into the card itself if range isn't an issue.
