Display Port 1.2. Not that it really matters, either is fully capable of handling a 1440p 165hz signal.

Does this have a 144hz refresh rate?

Yes, and can be overclocked to 165hz

How can I be certain that this monitor won't have backlight bleed?

All Ips moniters have what's called backlight glow. I bought this moniter 2 months ago and only see backlight glow when there's no lights on in my office and the moniter is showing a very dark scene. All the other pros of this moniter out weigh the cons in my opinion. Hope this helps!
