That depends. If you want to run most current AAA games at 1440p (This monitors native resolution), then you will have to drop some settings to maintain 60fps. If your goal is 30fps then you can probably run them at max.

Can you hook up a PS4 or XBOX One through the HDMI on this?  I want one monitor for my PC and game system and my current ROG swift only has display port.

It should be possible but I would not recommend it since those consoles do not support WQHD.  You would be running at a non-native resolution which will not look good at all.

I currently own the TN version of this monitor. Do you think that IPS is worth the upgrade? Is the quality control as bad as the TN version?

I too know nothing of the TN you ask, but the last monitor prior to this Swift I paid a little over $300 USD about 6-7 years ago and bought the Swift to go with my new system.  Either I have the rare gem or it sounds  like there may be some random QC issues going on that I didn't hear about on the dozens of various internet reviews I checked prior to my purchase. I've had mine for more than a year w/o a single complaint! I play GTAV Single Player Mode at about 98% maxed out with minimal cooling needs and benches that game at roughly 35-50 FPS. And as I said, I haven't noticed any of the complaints mentioned on this site's product/Q&A's

Will a 970 and an I7 4790k be enough to game on this monitor's native resolution at 144hz?

It depends wildly on the game that you're playing, for older games like CS:GO or League of Legends which aren't graphically intensive...yes.  On newer AAA titles with a lot of eye-candy and ultra settings...no.

To be honest though, the primary benefit of 144hz is in smooth motion and the "feel" or registration when you are playing online multiplayer.  Those kinds of games are going to tend to be easier to run at 144 frames because they need to be able to be run on a wide range of systems.

The single player eye-candy AAA games you've got GSYNC to keep things nice and smooth even if you can't hit 144 frames.  A brand new AAA game even with the best graphics card is never going to get that many frames on ultra.

TLDR: it will do what you need it to.

Yes, on ULMB. Though GSync/ULMB are mutually exclusive, only one or other enabled at a one time.

How much back light bleed is there supposed to be on this monitor? I came into it expecting a little bit but looking at the bottom right corner at anything other than straight on the yellow tint takes up almost 15% of the screen. There is also a little bit coming from the top right corner.

I really like the monitor and I'm going to keep it if this is normal but if most of the monitors shipped are truly light bleed free I'm going to exchange it.

Back Light Bleed and IPS glow are two totally different things.  I have two spots of BLB.  One in the top right corner and the other in the middle right.  Both these BLB areas are very small and all  unnoticeable unless you stare right at them.

I do have the characteristic IPS glow.  All 4 corners show it, but the only place it can be distracting is the lower right corner.  This becomes distracting only during very dark images AND when the brightness is cranked to 100.  After I set the brightness to 25, the IPS glow is hardly an issue, even with dark backgrounds.

Yeah, I wish the panel didn't have the IPS glow, but it isn't bad enough to where I would go back to the TN panel I was using.  There is no choice, IMHO.  The minimal IPS glow, after lowering the brightness, is an insignificant concession to the improved fidelity vs a TN panel.

Are the speakrs good ? any other issues i need to be concerned for?

They're not bad, and are very convenient if you don't have any speakers, but are easily outclassed by any dedicated audio playback device. The sound is also kind of quiet, I'm not sure what that is about.

Does the Displayport cable that it comes with actually support the 1440p resolution and 144Hz ~ 165Hz refresh rate? Also, what's the max refresh rate on the HDMI input?

Yes, the display port on this model support s 1440p and 144Hz ~ 165Hz refresh rate. The max refresh rate over HDMI is 60hz.

Question 10

Does anyone have any problems with running a GTX1080 with this monitor?  I previously bought a XB280HK and it just would NOT work with my graphics card.  I am running an EVGA SC 1080 with windows 10 Pro.

This monitor should be just fine to use with a gtx 1080. I am using a gtx 980ti and have no issues. Love the monitor. Owner for over a year.
