Question 1

Is this monitor ok for gaming or would it be better to get the cheaper TN model? I like the bigger size of this monitor worried about ghosting.    Thanks.

I have experienced zero ghosting. It does require a lot of GPU power to run at 60fps. I run a titan 3-way SLI setup. Games with SLI profiles run great. It is hard for me to go back to a 1920x1080 display after gaming in 4k. I'm a huge enthusiast and have a number of monitors 120hz ASUS for 3dvision, Oculus DK2, etc. . But for straight up gaming I would highly recommend this display. I have replayed games like Withcher2, borderlands 2, and skyrim because it just looks so awesome. I use the monitor on a dedicated gaming PC. I do have one issue which may be big to you if this is your everyday everything monitor. I have to turn the monitor off during boot up and turn it on after windows boots or the display will not sync. I have read you can request a firmware update directly from ASUS via email although there is not a firmware update available on their website. This does not happen if you also have a secondary monitor hooked up. I have not attempted to get the update since I'm only using the monitor on my gaming CPU. I have just gotten used to turning it on and off at boot up and power down. If you google this you will find out I'm not the only one. Not sure if this is a nvidia  issue or if it's also a AMD issue. What is the refresh rate of this monitor?
Also how well does it perform in gaming at 4K?

I switched the monitor to MST mode in the menu (after I updated  the firmware). It gives 60Hz refresh rate. I'm using it for gaming with GTX680X, and easily get about 60fps. It is awesome!

I also played on 30Hz, and personally I do not see much difference.

What graphic card I use to maximize resolution?

I run with 3-way SLI Tirans. I can play Assasins Creed 4, Borderlands2, and Bioshock Infinite with max Settings and maintain about 60 fps. My system is liquid cooled and overclocked. I would not recommend anything less than 2-way SLI using Titans or the best 780's. I have tested the monitor with an SLi 2xGTX680 air cooled and had to use Medium to High settings to maintain playable frame rates. Although games like World of Warcraft and unreal engine games like Dishonored ran decent on the 2 GTX680 rig, newer games struggled. When it does work, it's an amazing difference from 1920x1080. Steep investment $$$, but if you can afford it nothing's better.

How well does the display work in an intermediate resolution, say 1920 x 1200?

I only use the display for gaming via display port. It is not my primary computer so I haven't had to do anything outside of its native resolution. When I switch it to a lower resolution I have problems. It won't go full screen, just has a smaller version of the screen in the middle of the monitor. I love the monitor for gaming but have a lot of problems with it using nvidia 3xSLI via display port. I have to turn the monitor off during startup or it will not get a signal, updating drivers will cause the screen to go dark and the " no signal" screen requires reboot. I have only used display port not DVI so not sure if it makes a difference. I wanted to obtain 60hz not 30hz and display port is the easiest way with this monitor. Supposedly there is a bios update which can be obtained via ASUS tech support. Why the have not posted it in the download section on their website I don't know. For what I use the monitor for(strictly a stand alone gaming machine) it's amazing since I have figured out all the work arounds to get it to function. That's all I got...hope it helped.
