Is it worth buying the refurb version of this laptop, or just spring for a new one?

I buy only refurbished products and they seem to work.  Laptops are like produce; they are worthless after 5 years.  If this computer is within your budget I would recommend it.  If you are willing to purchase a computer for 200 more, then a different refurbished model may give you more for your money.
    Ultimately, you have to determine what amount of money you want to spend.  For about 1100 (tax), this computer is great for the next 3-5 years.

Does this have Bluetooth? and how well does it work, also do the keyboard backlights work? (considering this is a refurb)

I own this very laptop, and it is also refurbished! I can say that the back lights on the keyboard work extremely well, the dimming switch for it, too. It does have blue tooth. I hooked a speaker up to it and it works rather well. Just keep it in decent proximity to the laptop. Like 5-10 feet and it's perfect.

Hello, this model have THUNDERBOLT port? On ASUS´s site say it´s optional.

Mine did, next to the HDMI port. You can see it in the picture. The white thing next to the USB ports is the thunderbolt sticker.

Would this laptop be good for animation, 3d modeling, photoshop, stuff like that? if not let me know what kind of laptop would be best for that kind of stuff.

Yup.  This is as good as you can get for under a grand.  The chasis is made from aluminum and dissipates heat for prolonged use.  I just used this computer to render 32 hours of 1080p video using Powerdirector 12.  Multi-cam playback is very smooth.  The screen is matt with high contrast and vivid colors.  The computer doesn't need additional cooling and even ventilates well while resting on a soft surface.  Speakers are loud for synchronization but the subwoofer distorts.  So circumaural headphones are a good addition.  A customizable high dps mouse and smooth mouse pad make navigating frames and milliseconds easier.

This is a desktop replacement.  The power adapter is gigantic.  I bought a second laptop for portability after using this.  The purpose of this laptop is to allow you to not feel compelled to purchase a computer for the next 3 years.

Does this computer have a touch screen?

This is a great machine but it does not have a touch screen. I have found touch screens do show fingerprints and that can be a big issue when viewing anything on the screen. Hope this helps.

So - this is a 'refurbished' laptop...Is this done by ASUS, or someone else?

What level of quality can I expect (dings/dents/missing keys/etc)?

Mine was not in perfect condition. It had a dent on the edge (plastic was coming off) and the screen had flicker issues. A flickering screen is not a good sign, as it may die in the future. Maybe due to the fall (apparent from the dinged edge) it had flickering issues.

I paid for return shipping and got another refurbished one sent to me.

dose this computer come with regular CD Asus box and Instructions ? or it just give you the computer and nothing elas?

Make new came in generic box with only power adapter and battery. No documents or disks included with refurbished laptop.
