Yes.  This laptop has been one of the best purchases I've ever made; it runs super-fast, plays any game I want to play at good framerates, and straight out of the box it worked perfectly.  One note:  the HD is partitioned strangely, so make sure to install game data and other software to a drive OTHER than the main (OS) partition, or you will quickly run out of room on the OS partition.

7200rpm. You'll note it's the first time the disk is mentioned that mentions 7200rpm, kind of like they went through and edited the previous version's spec and forgot to update an entry.

If I remember properly, the previous version (JX? I think.) had a 5400rpm. Good question though.

I use the Asus Shuttle II backpack. It fits the notebook perfectly and is very spacious for accessories and is very comfortable.

9 lbs I weighed it a few different ways on the scales and each time, the weight is 9 lbs. I was surprised because it is not bulky. The few times that I've carried it, it did not seem heavy. The body design has nice corner contouring.

Do any other current owners have an issue with the two keys below the touchpad being kind of shoddy? I just received mine today and the touchpad keys are kind of poor, and get caught on the ridges around them when pressed. It doesn't happen on every single press, but happens often enough to make me wonder if mine is defective.

Mine work fine. I just tried pushing them at different angles to see if I could force the issue that you described and I could not duplicate the issue. Both buttons sit below the frame and don't get caught on anything when I press them. I would contact Asus support and see what they want you to do.

Does it come with recovery disk? Can I remove the original HDD and add an aftermarket HDD w/SSD?

Mine came with no recovery disk but it has a recovery partition on the drive.  Mine came factory with both a 250G SSD for the OS plus a 1TB 7200 RPM drive for storage with both drives being split into 2 partitions each for a total of 4 logical drives.  I am uncertain about removing the factory HDD as I have not opened the machine, but would take an educated guess that the original drives can be removed based on previous laptops.

1. Yes it does. 2. Question why would you buy the newest best sports car on the market & only order it with a V6 manual controls & no air? The $420 you pay gets you the Air conditioning (4gb ram), power windows (256gb ssd), & a big block V8 (3gb video). You can keep going with the upgrades if you think you really need a Bluray (sunroof), power locks (512gb ssd), & a super charger (4gb video). But its up to you how you ultimatly want to drive your new car/comp.

I was confused by the memory questions here. What is the ram set up for the 16GB model. is it 4x4 or 2x8 with two empty slots?
the answers were split on that.
