The ASUS ROG Strix 18-inch gaming laptop pairs an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX, GeForce RTX 5070 graphics, 32GB DDR5 memory, and a 1TB SSD, making it suitable for gamers who want a powerful, large-screen Windows 11 system.
Recommended For
- PC gamers who usually play at a desk and want an 18-inch 2560×1600 screen with a 240Hz refresh rate for fast-paced games and a large view of game worlds.
- Users replacing a desktop who need a laptop for CPU-heavy work, multitasking, or editing, and prefer a built-in large display over a compact travel-friendly system.
- Players who want a high-refresh gaming laptop for esports and other games that can make use of the 240Hz display, while accepting that demanding titles may need adjusted graphics settings at 2560×1600.
- Photo editors and other display-focused users who want a large IPS screen; a review of the RTX 5070 Strix G18 found its 240Hz panel well calibrated and suitable for image editing.
Real-World Use Scenarios
- At a desk, play recent single-player games on the laptop screen at 1600p. Review testing found demanding games may need adjusted graphics settings or DLSS to maintain smoother play, especially when using ray tracing.
- Play competitive games where quick screen response matters. The high-refresh display can make motion look smoother, though the frame rate you get depends on the game and settings; it will not stay at the display’s maximum refresh rate in every title.
- Render 3D scenes or run other CPU- and GPU-intensive creative tasks from a home or studio desk. Testing found strong processor results and capable Blender rendering, making this a plausible option for creative work between gaming sessions.
- Use a single laptop for gaming and everyday multitasking—such as keeping work or study apps open alongside a browser and communication tools. The large screen offers room to work, but the 18-inch chassis is better suited to a regular desk than frequent travel.
- Set up a compact desktop replacement for gaming or demanding work, connecting peripherals and a wired network at home. Its large format favors a mostly stationary setup over carrying it around all day.
