Question 1

Is there space to add an extra hard drive/SSD?  My old Asus ROG laptop had two SATA bays and I filled them with 2 x 1TB SSDs.  I'd hate to go backwards on storage capacity.

There aren't any internal SATAIII slots, but you can absolutely get a USB-to-SATA adapter for external use (this has USB 3.2 ports, so whatever you have will be absolutely fast enough). But plan to move towards M.2 NVM3 drives with this laptop

Yes it can be turned off. Go into Armoury Crate app that comes installed and change to dark mode. You have to see it on music mode it's awesome.

Become familiar with Armory Crate (Asus' control software for this). It's not necessary to run, but can help automate some of this for you.  At higher-performance settings, this can certainly be loud
