Can this b used with ATT U-verse service as a modem/router combo replacing  unit from ATT?

No. You will also need to buy an ATT compatible modem. The RT-AC68R is not a combo.

This product is stated to have "1GHz Dual-core CPU".  However, I just purchased it and they seem to be 800GHZ!  Is the product information correct?

Because Newegg is selling  old units made in early 2015. The hardware version is probably A1. Look at the white label on the side of the box. It goes like this A1>A2>B1>B2>C1 (latest). A1 is P.O.S. Really bad USB3 interference with wifi signal. Newegg dumped old stock at $57 for a reason. Thats why Brick and Morter stores are still the best places to shop. You will not get tricked like this because what you are buying is in your hands. Return it and get a 68u or 68p with c1 hardware at your local electronics store.
