It's hard to tell, but I believe it's matted. If you're worried about glare, I can assure you this screen is so bright that you probably can take it outside and see just fine on it.

Hi - Can you tell me if this monitor has 4 screws on the back to be mounted on a dual monitor stand?

Monitors are set up to be what's considered "Vesa Compliant" which is a standard method for being able to mount them on any stand. Depending on the type of stand and monitor you buy you need to be sure that the Vesa matches up. This monitor is Vesa 100x100 compatibility, so if your stand is also Vesa 100x100 compliant they're perfectly interchangeable.

My application involves moving a microscope over a part and looking for defects. A 60 hz monitor doesn't seem to keep up with it, and I suspect I need a higher frequency to do so. No gaming or or PC are part of this system; is this monitor suitable to work simply off of a HDMI input from the scope with no additional cards, adapters,...?

So it will just work out of the box. If you are looking for over 60hz you will need to use DVI. When I purchased this I had HDMI plugged in and I thought it was defective but once I used DVI I got the advertised 144hz. If you are planning on using this on a piece of equipment that has HDMI out you won't get over 60hz. I dont recall if my graphics card had to update or if this came with any software. Now that I read your thing again this might not be for you as HDMI only gets to 60hz. I dont know if you could take an HDMI and use a dvi adapter to get 144hz, that would be a question for the manufacturer.

When I try to change my monitor to 144hz it just stays at 60hz what do I do?

Hello,

This monitor supports three (3) different video adapters, HDMI, Display Port, and Dual-link DVI-D.

This monitor requires that you use either the Display Port or Dual-Link DVI-D port for displaying at 120Hz or 144Hz.

Try your best to avoid using adapters that convert between different interfaces as this could be a potential throttle in bandwidth that is necessary for 1080p120/144.

If you're going over HDMI, you're most likely limited by the HDMI interface, if you're using HDMI 1.2 or below, you will only be able to put out a refresh rate of 60Hz.

Does this monitor have an anti-glare screen or is it Glossy?

The screen itself is pretty anti glare. My desk is right by a window and I haven't had issues. The casing and stand are a glossy black though, but not necessarily shiny.

What does it mean by Nvidia 3D Vision sold separately?  Does that mean that you only have to buy the glasses separately?  Or something else?

It means that you have to buy the glasses and software which come in a package separtely. It's worth buy later. If you like 3d. But other wise this is a great monitor for the money.

The monitor is 3D compatible for games and movies. However it is not passive 3D (like movies in the theater), it requires the use of active 3D glass, as do some TV's. You must used the nVidia 3D Vision 2 Glasses. These active wireless glasses sync with the dongle & monitor. I hear pro's and con's for both Passive and Active 3D. While I prefer passive 3D, I am sure the nVidia active 3D glasses perform adequately. Would you trade off some refresh rate for an IPS panel instead? That is, how much of a hit to the image quality is the TN panel?

This monitor is made for 3D. If you are not at all interested in 3D then any 60Hz monitor will work for 60 FPS (which is all anyone needs) as long as your PC has the horsepower to push those frames at the resolution & detail settings you want. TN panel isn't going to make any difference to "image quality" since that is controlled by the capabilities of your PC & the game settings. IPS panels strength is better viewing angles & richer colors then TN panels. Viewing angles are not all that important for gaming since 99.99999% of the time you'll be gaming straight in front of the Monitor. The only down side of this monitor in my opinion is the 3D capabilities are DVI output only which means you can not use an HDMI cable for its 3D capabilities.  Other then the DVI issue, I think this monitors egg rating including the amount of votes speaks for its self.

P.S. One thing to note. My son has this monitor with an FX 8350 that turbo's up 4.4 or 4.5 Ghz, 16 Gig corsair vengeance mem, & a GTX 670 SC with usually max detail at 1920x1080. In 3D gaming for most current (even some older) games he's lucky to hit 60 FPS for any period of time. 3D is extremely more taxing to the PC.
