What is the specific DVI cable I need for this monitor before I purchase?

A Dual-Link DVI-D cable with a thick amount of copper in the cable and gold-plated connectors.  144hz requires a lot of data, so a normal DVI cable won't work.

I'm concerned that the Specifications state "Dual-link DVI cable" is included, yet the reviews AND Asus's response state that the cable is NOT included.  Does NewEgg back their specifications and will they include a free Dual-link DVI cable?

The dual DVI-D is NOT included in the box
The box included an HDMI cable, but that HDMI cable does not support more thank 60Hz , there for using that HDMI cable on a 144hz screen is a waste of a screen and makes no sense. You will need to purchase the DVI-D cable separately.

It's a TN panel, though still has a pretty beautiful picture and rich colors for general use.

If I have a GTX 1080 can I use a Displayport to DVI-D Dual Link adapter to still get 144hz? (Since the ASUS Strix GTX 1080 has 2 Displayport ports).

You need to use a USB powered Displayport to DVI-D Dual Link adapter which run about $80 each last time I checked.  Regular adapters will not work.  None the less, it's the nature of those powered adapters that you will have occasional screen flicker.  Some powered adapters have more issues than others, so do your research on them before making the choice to get these monitors and powered adapters rather than monitors with DisplayPort.

Is this monitor actually Free-Sync capable at 27 inches as it states on the site?

 1. A reviewer said it doesn't
 2. The ASUS web site's specs for the monitor do not mention Free-Sync
  It seems unlikely.

Question 6

To get 144hz you need dvi or displayport connectivity. HDMI does not support 144hz. The specs on this monitor state that it only has HDMI as an input. What other inputs are available, if any?

@newegg. why does this display picture show a HDMI cable, but if you read package contents it says it has a duel link DVI cable. I am confused if I need to buy this seperate. or what one actually comes with this display?   .... the reviewers say none.
