Pros: This is an excellent pc for use with your home entertainment system. It flawlessly streams video from the internet or a local source. The video is excellent on my 60" TV and it ties into my home theater system to play movies or music with no problems.
Looks cool (brushed Aluminum)
HDMI out + optical out
Streams video very well (depending of course on your available internet connection)
Super easy to add RAM
Handles all normal applications and multitasking
Low power consumption
Cons: Limited processors, so programs start slower
Not a great gamer
No optical drive (bought a matching Asus DVD drive for low price-nice!)
Very limited modification potential (it's a small box - you can add a SSD, but look up advice from someone who has done this on this box first)
Sound capabilities are over-hyped - the little speakers in the box are just OK. Use the HDMI or the optical out to connect to a real sound system, if that matters to you.
*Has a bug where it will NOT fully shut down. It seems like it goes through the normal shut down procedure, but you will still be able to hear something humming and going, even hours later (after the cooling fan system should have long ago stopped) - you have to unplug it and plug it back in (yes I have properly reset every single power setting in Win 10 and in the bios and it still does it - this is a known issue, and not just with this machine, check other discussion boards)
*TiWorker.exe is a background Windows process that will take over your machine when it wants to do updates and render it useless, sometimes for 20-minutes or more! This also is a known issue, and not just with this machine. I use Process Explorer from sysinternals (Google it). I open that right after my desktop appears after turning on my machine. If TiWorker starts doing its thing, I simply force it's "priority" to "background". (Google that too before trying it). That solves the problem nicely until Microsoft or Asus pays attention enough to fix it. And yes, I have all Windows updates fully applied, even the one that claims to fix this bug.
Overall Review: All in all, even with the two annoyances, I would still buy this rig again. I didn't find anything that would come close, unless I bought refurb or off-lease (which I didn't want to do). I really like this box and am glad I did not have to spend more than a couple hundred clams to replace what I was using before.
Pros: Excellent value (less than $165 Black Friday deal) I bought this to stream video/mp3/flac files to the big screen using VLC media player and Media Player Classic with some web surfing. 1080p playback is flawless over wifi or from USB drives. Good looking unit.
Cons: 1 - One Toshiba USB 2.5 drive drops the connection, a 2nd one is flawless. So its finicky.
2 - It is slow for CPU intensive tasks. Only hdmi output, so some displays may not work with it.
3 - The upgrade to windows 10 takes 2 days due to the 200 + patches the machine installed. This is
Overall Review: You need to buy a USB drive to back up your Operating System. That is a problem with every PC sold today. The keyboard and mouse are flimsy, but I'm replacing them with a Bluetooth wireless unit. This is a stripper low end PC, use it like a tablet (one app at a time) and you are OK. Load it up and it will bog down.
Pros: Small and light
Cons: The hard drive is not good . it just lasted 10 months and crushed I had to buy a new drive and Lost all my files..
Overall Review: I dont think I will spend more money on this model.
Pros: Small size. Easy to upgrade HDD. Easy to upgrade memory. Plenty of USB 3.0 connectors. Two USB 2.0 connectors for mouse and keyboard, leaving the faster 3.0 ones free. Video fine on LED TV. Bluetooth works well, and ac Wi-Fi is more than adequate for video streaming off Internet. Good sound when connected to receiver. It simply does a basic job well.
Cons: RAM shared with video, but still not a problem with more RAM installed. The Intel display utility is a bit limited and took a few tries combined with Win 10's display options to get everything right. The built-in speakers while not tinny, do not play music well.
Overall Review: Got this to make a small HTPC for TV not intended for gaming. The Win 8.1 upgraded with no problem to Win 10. I added memory and changed the HDD to SSD. This made its performance a lot better, although it wasn't bad to begin with. Connected to a receiver and good speakers the audio is very good and also through Bluetooth headset. The UEFI bios settings are limited, but this is not an overclocker's computer. It should run most business apps without problem. Just remember, it is not a powerhouse computer.
Pros: Very small and... Well, it's small, and decent for web browsing.
Cons: Incredibly slow with Excel. Spreadsheets take forever to load and forget about switching sheets.
Overall Review: I bought it for a part time employee to track A/R's and build ACV spreads, turns out it wasn't the right fit for that.
Cons: UPGRADING THE MEMORY VOIDS WARRANTY!!!!!!!
Overall Review: wi-fi in computer sucks needs to use Ethernet cable
Pros: Looks nice
Cons: Not at all customizeable and very difficult to modify. Could not get an SSD to work with it after trying all kinds of ways. Quite warm to touch as well.
Overall Review: II bought this intending to use it as an audio PC and run as minimal as possible. If I were an IT guy I probably could have gotten it to where I wanted but I am not an IT guy and this machine was very difficult to work with for my intentions. I have a older Dell computer that I am able to customize fine and figured I could do the same with this one.
