Does this have HDMI ports?

No, it only has a single VGA port.  I bought it for working on a server (admin tasks, etc) and it is fine for that.

Does this come with a cord to hook up to a tower? If not what do i need to buy.

Yes, I haven't purchased or heard of a monitor that doesn't come with the cord. You need to check wether you're using hdmi or dvi though

Question 3

Can the OEM stand be removed?  I see that it has VESA mounting, but I ordered a couple of ASUS like this a year or two ago and found that the trunk of the stand could not be removed.

It cannot be removed.  The neck of the base is attached by 3 screws to a hinge in the back bottom of the monitor.  The circular base of the stand clips on to the bottom of the neck.  It provides a slight amount of tilt ~ 20 degrees or so, but that is it.  No swiveling, turning the monitor vertical, or anything like that.  Very basic.
