Question 1

I have COX cable internet. There is a coaxial cable upstairs and one downstairs. Right now I have the ARRIS SB8200 modem plugged into the coaxial cable upstairs, and plugged into my router. Is there a way I can convert coaxial to ethernet so I could have both nodes plugged in for ethernet backhaul?

Just a FYI, Asus recomends using their 5ghz dedicated channel as the backhaul. I have not done speed testing and or seeing how this impacts signal (if at all), but when i posted this to their team they did note to use their dedicated back-haul wifi channel. My environment is using 4 of the ZenwifiAX devices. Lastly, with 2 x 10/100/1000 Base-T ports you might go straight from the SB8200 to the Asus as the Asus has a security stack as part of it. You could run testing from straight from the SB to Asus or from Router to Asus. Hope this helps

If i were to need 6 ethernet ports at my main router location, would i add a small 6 port switch to one of the Router point jacks?

I have a wifi camera about  100' from my home.  Is that outside the range of this mesh router?

My router is against the back wall of my house.  My shop is 60 feet away and 30 feet long. I have a tv on the back wall of my shop and it gets 4 out of 5 bars

Will each node accept a hardwire connection back to a router/switch or do they only communicate amonsgt themselves via the wireless backhaul?

Yes, you can have all the routers on a hardwire backbone.   You can either use one as the primary router itself, or have them all hanging off a switch connected to another router.   I ended up ditching my other primary router though, the backbone on these is faster than what I had originally...

Question 6

Can I connect an external HD via the USB port?  Like a 4tb Backup HD, and will it be recognized within my network, assessible by all connected computers?

Yes, I have a 10T WD connected. It is accessible by Windows, Mac (Time Machine), and Linux. However I only could get it recognized by connecting to the main router. There are some configurations to do under the USB section of the router, it’s not just plug and play.
