does this unit work as a total replacement for the power supply in the computer, or do you have to purchase any kind of extra stuff, such as connectors or wires, etc?

I used this power supply as an upgrade at the same time as I was adding a video card that required the higher wattage. I put it in a Dell e310 pc replacing a 240W unit. It fit fine, and had all the needed wires with connectors already attached. It also had others that I did not need, but were there if I had additional drives in the open bays of my case. Have been running it daily for about 3 months with no issue. Seems to have been a good purchase at a good price.

It should be compatible with any ATX form factor power supply. This has MANY different connectors, so that shouldn't be a problem.
I don't see why it wouldn't work.

It looks like it is compatible with e510.

Since e510 and e520 are very similar, I would think it would work.

You could always contact Athena and make sure, but I would be surprised if it didn't fit.

I don't think it will fit if your Optiplex 380 is a small form factor design (not a full sized desktop).

You will probably need a slim-line form factor power supply.
