15-Amp SmartlockPro Self-Test GFCI
Testing a GFCI is a good way to verify that it is providing protection. While all GFCIs should be tested monthly, users often forget to conduct this test on a regular basis. Now there is a technology available that can supplement the manual testing and regularly conduct an automatic test of the circuit. In June of 2015 there was a revision to the UL (Underwriters Laboratory) standard 943 for Ground-Fault Circuit-Interrupters that improves safety for the end-user by requiring GFCI manufacturers to integrate an auto-monitoring (self-test) feature that performs a periodic test to confirm that the GFCI can respond to a ground-fault and, if not, it must visually and/or audibly indicate to the user that it needs to be replaced.

The SmartlockPro Triple Protection Advantage
Auto-Monitoring: By conducting an internal test to confirm that the GFCI is providing protection, SmartlockPro Self-Test GFCIs offer an added layer of protection from electrical shocks due to hazardous ground-faults.
If during a self-test the GFCI detects a problem, one or more of the following will occur:
- Power will be denied (trip with the inability to reset)
- Trip with the ability to reset, subject to the next auto-monitoring test cycle or repeatedly trip
- Visual and/or audible indication (Audible indication with the GFTA1/GFTA2 Audible Self-test GFCI)
Patented Reset Lockout: The Reset Lockout feature prevents the GFCI from being reset if it is damaged and cannot respond to a ground fault. Older model GFCIs may allow reset even if they are no longer providing protection. In addition, power will be denied if the line and load wires are reversed during installation.
LED Indicators: LED indictors on the device face provide simple, intuitive feedback on power and protection status.
Slim, Sleek Design for Easy Installation
The slim design takes up to 25 percent less space in the wall box making it easy to install in electrical boxes, even older shallow boxes. External back wire clamps allow for visual confirmation of proper clamping. The one-piece T-design trip latch mechanism makes for efficient operation, and the test and reset button colors match the device face so that they blend in.
Built to Last with Advanced Technology
Designed to provide years of reliable performance, the SmartlockPro Self-Test GFCI withstands high torque, resists wire pullout and has a standard brass self-grounding clip. Additionally, its trip threshold meets or exceeds UL requirements for tripping time, and its electronics design provides strong resistance to electrical surges and over-voltages.
At a Glance:
- The GFCI will continually test itself and alert the user if protection has been compromised.
- Patented Reset Lockout feature prevents GFCI reset if it cannot respond to a ground fault
- LED indictors on the device face provide simple, intuitive feedback on power and protection status.
- Reduced depth makes it easier to install in electrical boxes.
