Pros: Well ventilated case, cool lights, driver/recovery discs included, quiet from what I can tell, another slot to upgrade RAM. Keyboard & Mouse included: They are extremely basic and cheap, but I am not complaining. They would serve their purpose to type and click -what more would you need?
Cons: Upon doing nothing more than simply opening the box, and connecting cables: USB Keyboard, USB Mouse, HDMI cable, and power cord, I was shown nothing but a black screen. My monitor never even detected a signal from the tower. The GPU was DOA (dead on arrival). Fan wasn't spinning on the GPU, and even made sure it was connected properly to the PSU. IN ADDITION, what they don't tell you (and what I had to learn from AVATAR Tech Support) on initial start up, is if you don't complete Windows 8 setup and proceed to shut the unit off, your initial install will be thrown into a LOOP (which you can't get out of) and forget about fixing it with the recovery disc because Windows 8 doesn't let you boot from your CD-ROM drive. Overall, I didn't get to see a single loading screen, boot screen, or BIOS screen at all. No image was displayed on the screen at all. No Wireless Network card (a purchase I'd prefer to do w/o)
Overall Review: Newegg: I could not RMA online. It said my product was ineligible for RMA. I didn't quite agree with that, so I got on the line with customer support and spoke with Ceceli. She was straightforward, to the point, and got me on track with my RMA in a matter of minutes. I had my return labels and RMA in the system shortly thereafter. I understand these things happen, but it does suck quite a bit when you buy an item, and pay for Overnight Express shipping (I'll leave the cost for you to find out on your own) and have to send it back to wait even longer. However, that said, Newegg reciprocated that process for me, and when the item is shipped back via UPS Ground, they will do their thing with it and hopefully issue a REPLACEMENT with the same shipping method I rightly paid for. Their customer support is excellent, I'm sure I just happened to come across a lemon in the bunch, and hopefully this issue is solved. This is my first ever Newegg purchase, and I would buy from Newegg again. Avatar Tech Support: In order to troubleshoot my issues, and in an attempt to avoid an RMA, I called Avatar Tech Support and was put on the phone with Chris. He was extremely helpful, patient, and rather fun to troubleshoot with. He was the one who helped diagnose my issue as being hardware related -and recommended an RMA through Newegg. Situations like these happen, and Avatar USA was more than willing to help me out in anyway possible. Judging from what I was able to physically tell, it was a good machine, and I would also purchase from Avatar again in the future. 5 stars for both Newegg and Avatar customer support. Thank you Chris and Ceceli for assisting me with my issue. 3/5 Eggs OVERALL strictly due to the shipping/waiting issues. Will update as soon as I can get a working unit! :)
