I’ve purchased other versions of this SPD, i.e. BE112234-10 (12 outlet with phone, Ethernet & coax protection) & BE112230-08 (12 outlet with telephone & coax protection). After reading the reviews for this surge protector, I'd like to add the following information which is not readily available so that others who have had questions about SPDs in general or the 30 feet requirement can better understand why.  There are 4 types of surge protection devices (SPD) and they fall into the following categories:

Type 1: Installed on the Power company side of your mains electrical panel
Type 2: Installed on the load side of your mains electrical panel also known as Whole House Surge Protectors. 
Type 3: Point of Use (in-wall, rack mounted, or floor models). This is the most common type of protector sold.
Type 4: Component SPD, including discrete components as well as component assemblies, which must be tested for the location that they will be installed at.

In order to qualify for UL certification, testing is done for each type of SPD. An SPD works by diverting surge energy to ground. In the mains electrical panel, the NEUTRAL and GROUND wires are bonded to each other and attached to a buried copper ground rod connected via a sufficiently large ground wire.

Most house wiring on 15 Amp circuit breakers use 14 gauge wiring or in a ROMEX cable. There is some resistance to the wiring (about 0.0025 ohms per foot) and the longer the wire, the greater the resistance. In Alternating Current (AC), resistance along with capacitance and inductance make up what is known as impedance. A Type 3 SPD that is less than 30 feet away from the mains electrical panel could end up doing the work that a Type 2 SPD would do and if it cannot, it would in all likelihood fail sooner rather than later. There are some Type 3 SPDs that are tested to Type 2 SPD specifications which can be used less than 30 feet away.

What's the dimension of this outlet strip? 6 feet of cord or 6 feet in length of the strip?

Only the cord is 6 feet.  The strip itself is about 18" or so.

Can this (Belkin 108200-06) be used to protect DSL phone lines?  Some surge protectors work for voice/fax lines, but not for DSL, so I need to know if this one works with DSL.

Base dimensions are 4" wide, 12" long, and 1 1/4" thick.  The cable organizer at the bottom is 1 3/4" high.  The power switch and cable are at the top, so you would need about 2" clearance at the top.  (About 105 mm x 310 mm x 33 mm)
