Can this monitor run from USB port ?

No. I can't think of any standard monitors that do. There may be some rare and expensive monitors intended to be connected to USB, but generally USB is too slow and not intended for connecting real-time displays.

Does it come with a dvi-d cable?

Mine did NOT - it came with the cables shown in the pictures (the last one) on the Newegg website - a power cable and a 15 pin analog VGA cable (the blue ends one).  I just checked the box it came in and a sticker says D-Sub and DVI-D  *INPUTS* - I guess this is where the description became confusing.  FWIW I did not even use the new analog cable - I just swapped monitors and used both cables that were on the old one which worked just fine.

Can you take off the stand to put it on a swivel stand?

the monitor is 100 x 100mm vesa compliant so you can replace the stand with something compatible.
