Does it have built in speakers? If not does it have usb output for my headset?

It doesn't have built-in speakers, however it does have built-in USB ports on the left side so you could hook up a USB headset to it.

Be warned: This is a performance monitor strictly for gaming and framerate. The color is and will always be a bit washed out and will take some time to balance correctly, especially when using a multi-monitor set up. That being said, it's a beast and I love it.

Is the screen glossy or matte?

The screen is matte and it is a wonderful picture. The DVI to DVI cord that come swith it is kinda short, I have to buy a longer one (10 ft) to connect to my computer and keep things neat. I am very very satisified with the picture, if you are gaming the only way to get 120 HZ is to use the DVI to DVI cable. Hope this helps your decision.

what do i need to buy to use the 3D ability?

It turns out that if you get this monitor, you are going to need an NVIDIA Graphics card as well so that the monitor will be able to use the specific brand needed to run 3D (AMD wont work with this monitor basically).

It also turns out that you will have to buy glasses and an IR emitter for you to be able to see the 3D images that the software, video card, and monitor all work together to produce.

The specification for this monitor state that it has only 1 HDMI port, however, the image of the ports on the bottom of the monitor clearly shows 2 HDMI ports.

Which is correct; the image or the specs?

There are two ports each with there own interchangeable settings. There is also a DVI port and oldschool. All of which are accessed throughout the side navigation lights.

Does this do 120hz through just normal hdmi?

Using HDMI or VGA the monitor will only operate at 60hz. In order to utilize the 120hz function you will have a video card with either a Display Port output and a Display Port cable, or a video card capable of outputting DVI-Dual Link, and a Dual-Link compatible DVI-I or DVI-D cable. You can easily tell the difference between a DVI Dual Link and Single Link cable, as Single link will be missing the connectors in the middle where as Dual Link has all connectors present. I used my gtx 580 on this monitor works great I did have 3 dead pixels when I got mine but when it went straight to my desk top screen they weren't noticeable at all and gaming on this monitor performed better with my card it was more fluid and the 120hz makes it alot better on my old monitor I didn't push my card that much it lagged a little on this monitor I didn't get the lag I did on my old my monitor :) so yes this is a great gaming monitor when I use my 360 on it its more fluid and has a better picture than my 55 inch Samsung tv so best money I spent on this product

I heard that this has a built in emitter for Nvidia 3D. Is that true?

I don't think the XL2720T has that built in. I think the one with it built in has an extra letter at the end of the model number. I forget exactly but you can check the BenQ website.

Is this monitor able to be wall mounted and linked to a 3 monitor display?

Yes, it has the vesa mounting holes in the back when detached from the regular stand.   Supply your own bolts of course.

Is this monitor able to be wall mounted and lunked to have a 3 monitor display?

Most definitely yes. It has a standard vesa mount. I currently run this in a 3 monitor display with 2 other BenQ lower end models and they run flawlessly (NVidia GTX 760 4GB card - 2 hooked DVI-D and one on the HDMI). I'm currently playing Euro Truck Simulator 2 almost daily on the triple display. There are very good triple stands out there now starting at around $120.
