Is this the 2014 New Edition version because the picture on the box doesn't state that?

It seems to be: Although the box is remarkably devoid of information, the sealed envelope that contains the disk wears a label with the registration key, and that also specifies "BitDefender Antivirus Plus 2014 (EN-M2)". Appears legit! But I have not installed it yet, therefore I cannot click the "about..." button in the program itself to confirm it fully. Hope this helps...

Is this compatible with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit version?

Yes, I am using it with Widows 7 Pro, 64 bit. It is kind of an intrusive program. You cannot stop it from loading and running, even in safe mode. Make sure you learn how to turn features on and off and what they do. Also tries to get you to add features that are free for a period of time and you have to choose to keep or not.

Yes. But I am not sure if newegg.com has it. You can check out Bitdefender's website and choose to buy only 1 PC protection. For example, you can get anti-virus plus for 1 PC a year for $39.95 and 3 PCs for $49.95.... etc. However, I usually see 3 PC protection package for a better price (after rebate).

do i get backup restore cd?

Not unless you bought one refurbished early this year. They stopped including them but there is a program that will allow you to make a recovery USB drive on an 8 GB minimum one.

Has anyone ever seen this product catch anything other than a cookie??

It has caught nothing on mine, and I must run MalewareBytes free version to clean my PC from time to time.

Even free this was a waste of money.  *(shrug)*

This is a very good antivirus product. Definitions and updates are downloaded constantly. And yes It has caught a virus before. My complaint with this product is that it constantly prompts you to purchase more. It has annoying popups in the task bar and some that just take over half your desktop. Even though the av engine is one of the best those annoying popups are a deal breaker for me
