Bit Defender's website says "Internet Security" has been upgraded to "Total Security Individual" (See supplied link) - So if I purchase Internet Security and download it, will I get the upgraded Total Security Individual or Internet Security?

Yes, I last did this in 2022 when I ordered a digital download of Internet Security. I applied it and it extended my existing subscription through the end of 2024. I'm doing that again right now to extend through 2026.

Does this come as a code that you then download from their website and do they expire?  I'm wondering if you could buy a few when they went on sale, use one, wait till its two years were up, then use the next code from the group that you bought.
