will a nivadia geforce GTX980 be enough to run this monitor?

Hey, I bought this monitor the day it released, it's not the best graphics-wise, but it is the 'fastest' monitor in the world, and for competitive gaming it's just the best. It goes up to 200hz and yes after a month you'll notice anything slower (even 144). 980 should work perfectly fine, but if you buy this monitor just remember, if the sound ever stops working unplug and replug the monitors power cord.

What is the resolution?

max supported resolution is 2560x1080 which means the monitor is only 1080p capable. I actually cancelled my order after reading some reviews and customer feedback about the panel quality.

I am a very casual gamer at best, but I did just build my first pc, and am looking for a monitor to finish off the build. I am stuck though. I have GTX 1070. I do not do any productivity, and I build my pc pretty much just for gaming. I am currently using a samsung 1080p 32" with a 60Htz refresh rate.... sad I know, which is why I am looking for a new monitor. As pretty much a strictly gaming and media watching set up (and the fact that I have a 1070 gpu) should I be looking in to a monitor such as this, or should I be looking into a monitor with a higher refresh rate, such as the Asus ROG Swift pg348q? I need help with my decision.

Acer Z35 has 2560x1080@144Hz/200Hz(oc) resolution and gtx1070 has enough power to drive it and also  gets benefit from Gsync.  I have a Gtx1080 and it can run pretty much everything at max setting with full AA and AF.  But for your situation it's not big of an upgrade from 32" 1080p.  That 35" curved angle and 21:9 ratio will gives you an 'wow' factor at the first glance but you'll be surprised that still not many games actually support that ratio.  You'll either have find the tweak to fit and adjust fov or play with stretched graphics.  But when they work it looks fantastic of course.  Asus pg348q has a near 4k resolution and I doubt gtx 1070 can run it at the fullest potential.  And what's point having a PC if you can't run a game at the prettiest visual.  Consoles will be more suitable for a causual gamer who doesn't mind playing games at a mediocre setting.

What are the shipping dimensions of the box?

I don't have the box anymore so I can't give you the exact dimensions, but I can tell you it was very large at least twice as big as the monitor itself and I would lean closer to three times the size of the monitor. There is a lot foam to protect the monitor during shipping.

Does Z35 still suffer ghosting/smearing artifact due to VA Panel?

Yes and I didn't notice it at first. But a few weeks into the panel, and the novelty of ultrawide wearing off and I noticed I had trouble focusing on a moving image. I did a side by side comparison with another 144hz ips panel and the difference blew me away. This panel unfortunately fails miserably at being useful in any way with the ghosting and smearing being as prevalent as they are.

I heard that the pixel density won't be that good on a 35inch... How does the panel look? I bought it for gaming.

the panel looks good, only reason i swapped out was because i wanted more resolution.  i wasnt a big fan of the 21:9 thing like i thought i would be but if you have alot of stuff to play in that aspect ratio it should suit your needs. the monitor works well with outdated gpu's i think when i first purchased it i was running most stuff on a 780 ti and it was working fine

Lots of reviews talk about bad ghosting. Anybody able to confirm/deny this is an issue?

I haven't noticed any ghosting, I do however get some backlight bleed when there is no active picture being displayed. Nothing that interferes with my games.

21 1 /2 in. I don't believe you can raise or lower, just tilt.

Does this monitor have a VESA mount?

It has the holes for vesa mounting on the back, but you might have to put some kind spacers in between as well as acquire slightly longer screws due to the back of the monitor not allowing a mount to sit flush possibly. At least this is what I've read.
