very nice 1/6/2016 5:59:36 PM

Pros: very large, exactly what I needed for design workspace. Also great for gaming. Plays both Portal 2 and Wow nicely, sure it will play others on good settings.

Cons: the usual laptop hiccups and learning what to tweak. At times it seems to think too long where it shouldn't, just web or folder browsing. Also the battery life. Still doing some more tweaks, but the battery only lasts 2-3 hours web browsing without watcgubg any videos.

Overall Review: i would recommend this to anyone looking for a cheap gaming or design oriented laptop

Asus 8/28/2015 4:09:53 PM

Pros: have been able to recover somewhat.

Cons: screws started falling out the first week I received the computer, constant blue screens, worst computer investment I have ever made...will never buy another Asus.

Dead At The Tender Age Of 2 8/11/2015 3:21:41 AM

Pros: It was a decent laptop until the BIOS took a dump a few weeks ago.

Cons: I had the BIOS set in CSM (Legacy) Mode and I was installing a fresh copy of Windows 10. I switched the bios back to UEFI and restarted the laptop with Widows 10 ready to boot and install................ The BIOS never started again. It flip-flops through the LED's in the front when booting and never loads the bios. I have worked on PC's for 25 years and this was a first. As best as I can tell, changing the settings from CSM back to UEFI bricked the bios, leaving it unrecoverable. This should never happen form simply changing a setting. There's a lot of people online who are experiencing the same problems with the X75VD and several other ASUS laptops, that for whatever reason can brick the BIOS from just changing a setting. ASUS knows about it, I called them but it was the usual; "It is out of warranty, you'll need to send it in to be repaired"...... at my expense of course. This will be my last round with ASUS. I have 2 of these laptops so I guess I'm stuck with what's loaded on it because I dare not risk changing any settings.

Bye, Bye, ASUS!

I have spent about $3000 on ASUS products in the past two years, 3 laptops and 2 high-end desktop boards, but that does it for me!

poor quality 7/25/2014 1:05:32 PM

Pros: play games and runs programs I want

Cons: Case is very flimsy. The computer is literally coming apart whenever I open the lid. The case comes apart to the point that I can see the internals of the computer.

Overall Review: I will seriously reevaluate ASUS before I buy another ASUS product

Good college laptop 2/3/2014 1:21:18 PM

Pros: -Good processor speeds and core count
-High quality construction
-Easy to install Windows 7, ASUS's website has good driver support for Windows 7
-Good amount of RAM

Cons: None!

Overall Review: I would recommend this laptop to someone looking to do some light to mid gaming, as well as crunch some serious office work with a nice big screen and serious processing power. I am a CS and IT major in college, and this has been totally sufficient for all my needs. My only regret is that the laptop never fits comfortably on the tiny fold out desks they have on our chairs.

Great Machine, poor Quality Assesment 11/26/2013 5:43:35 PM

Pros: Great machine for the money. Quick with no hardware/software issues.

Cons: Screws were all apparently loose. Did not notice they were loose/missing until I found the top cover of the laptop was popping up when the screen was open. After noticing three were missing and I heard something rattling around in the computer. I removed the battery and found the two screws there were loose and had been trapped under the battery.

Overall Review: After reinstalling/tightening the two screws I actually had recovered (one in the corner to keep the cover from bending when opening the screen, the other near the battery compartment to support the lower cover from falling down near the battery compartment), I went around and tightened any loose screws left. They all were very loose and had more than a comfortable amount of turns left from the screw driver as I tightened..... Not very pleased by this and I need new screws that fit the threads in the case... Going to call ASUS support and find out if I can get screws.

Like I mentioned before, the computer runs great and I have no other issues. Maybe I got lucky, but I don't appear to have the disk drive problem others had.

My sister purchased this laptop after I advised her on New Egg and ASUS being fantastic. I still feel that way but obviously there was a quality control issue here. Never have I received loose screws in a product....sad.
I only write this review so that New Egg and/or ASUS rep will see how many had an issue and steps will be taken. Its discontinued so I feel that either this model was on its way out anyway or they are controlling a situation.

I hope New Egg or ASUS will contact my sister and see to her satisfaction as I told her how great both companies are. Either way, I'm on the horn with ASUS tomorrow to try and get some screws.

Just a bad unit? 11/9/2013 3:23:49 PM

Pros: Not yet found

Cons: Computer tries to access an empty DVD drive randomly from time to time and usually freezes at those moments

Overall Review: I also found that a screw from the bottom went missing and the rest were not tight enough. Sent the laptop to ASUS for repairs. Got it back a week later. The DVD drive now for some reason says Blu Ray Disc on it, even though under hardware info it's still the same Slimtype DVD A, and it's still being randomly accessed for no apparent reason, even adfter factory reset with just Windows updates installed. There was also a sound of a loose part rolling inside. Couldn't figure out where it comes from until I removed the battery, and a screw fell out. Put it back in, tightened all the screws again. Will send it back to ASUS for more repairs. So far this unit and repair attempts by ASUS are awful.
