I have a love hate relationship with this laptop 12/22/2017 2:57:21 PM

Pros: - I love the big no-glare screen (reflective screens are a sin)
- It runs cool and quietly
- It looks good
- It natively support three external monitors along with its built-in monitor
- The audio is better than most notebooks
- The price was good considering the specs (Intel i7, 802.11ac WiFi, Nvidia Geforce GTX graphics... etc)
- The Broadcom 802.11ac WiFi adapter has been good to have.

Cons: - It claimed to support 32G of RAM, but if I placed more than 16G in the system it would start to crash
Note: after ASUS replaced the motherboard, the system seems to support 24G of RAM now, but it's only been in the system for a day and so it is too soon to be sure of the stability.
- Headphones do NOT simply start when you plug them in... you need to manually confirm with a user interface selections
- After 3.5 years, the motherboard died. Via the extended warranty, ASUS fixed it, but the repair was not speedy
- Win 8 came with the system and was terribl. I installed Win7 and the system has been much better on Win7.
- I don't like the keyboard
- I don't like the touch-pad
- The first 16G of RAM slots are easily accessible for upgrade, but the second 16G require a lot of disassembly and re-assembly.
- When you close the lid the key touch the screen and eventually will leave marks on the screen.
Note: I used small adhesive spacers to keep the screen from closing too far and this worked to protect my screen

Overall Review: I get the feeling that ASUS does not think things through enough and is in a hurry to get the product out the door. My experiment with ASUS is over. I own two of there notebooks and I'll be going back to HP for my next notebook... as long as I the device does not have a white-list for hardware upgrades, or there is an easy option to remove the white-list via BIOS update.

Was an okay laptop but bad product and just as bad customer service 12/20/2016 8:07:41 AM

Pros: - it looks nice

Cons: - internal power supply went
- miss keyed
- terrible customer service who wanted $600+ to fix a know issue

Overall Review: I own multiple ASUS systems, and had recommended it to friends and employers and this is how they treat the loyal user. The power supply went in a year and a half and that is unacceptable when spending almost $2000 for a laptop. I am never buying ASUS again. BUYER BEWARE!

3 stars 10/19/2016 9:52:15 AM

Pros: Exellent machine in many ways.

Cons: Bought mine 12/2013.
Of course its heavy and quite big for a laptop but I knew what I was buying. I figured out the benefits and cons allready and decided that this one is mine.

I had couple of issues. For example some problems connecting with bluetooth speakers and some other software issues. But thats because these new windows 10 stuff that really made things messy from time to time. Nowdays Windows 10 is quite stable imo and updating the softwares always made things work so no problem with those. Bought even an ssd drive, Samsung 250Gb, moved windows into there and outcome was something brilliant.

Then something happened, this brilliant baby didnt want to boot anymore. It sometimes did but in time situation went from bad to worst and now its totally jammed.

When I try to start this baby, I could hear it powering up, could see powerbutton light, harddrivelight, battery light and other notification lights blinking but nothing in screen. Keyboard light is also black and I could actually hear cliking noise from cd-drive. But no boot, cant get it to bios or do anything with it. Seems like Its trying to boot itself up but for some reason rolling like a endless loop.

Well Iv removed both harddrives and cd drive, tried boot with other screen, switched and checked RAMs and nothing. Im 95% sure its hardware failure on motherboard or processor or both. So yeah end of the story.

Overall Review: It was wonderful for as long as it lasted. Still feel like 1200€ for a laptop for about 3,5 years is a bit too much, these devices should last for longer! I even kept mine like a flower in a hand, no cold booting no breaking or dropping. Always clean. I didnt even use it much. Maybe once in a week and that was mostly watching movies and stuff like that. I even had one year military service so only few boots during that time. Sometimes did little gaming yeah but my games dont require much from a laptop. So I NEVER push it to its limits. So yeah how can these break so fast? Maybe I was just unlucky.

Oh yeah and the power charger broke too an year ago. Had to buy a new Asus charger for 130€. In time I managed to repair the broken charger so now I have 2 of them, but now the laptop is gone. :((

No change but give it 3/5 stars.

Dear Valued Customer,

It's great to know that you find the laptop as an excellent machine ovecrall. I apologize if the system will not boot up or power on suddenly. Usually, you will try the following in order to resolve the issue. Please verify if the AC adapter was properly connected from the laptop to a working power strip or AC outlet and the power button is being pressed all the way down to trigger a power on signal. You may need to press and hold down the power button to in order shutdown the unit completely if it is in hibernate mode, then, press the power button, again, to power it on. Or, you may try to disconnect the AC adapter and let the unit drain for 24 hours to reset and clear the memory. After doing this, please reconnect your AC adapter then power on the unit. If you need further assistance, please email me at and I would be more than glad to help.

Thank you for choosing an ASUS product.

Pros: Good specs for a laptop, stays cool, good asthetics.

Cons: Laptop failing and ASUS repair is only making things worse.

The battery system failed not 6 months into purchase, I had to send it in for repair and also mentioned that there were permanent bright spots appearing on the screen. It was sent back to me with a new power system that worked and they supposedly changed the screen but the entire right side of the new screen was very fuzzy and distorted, I had to call support again and send it in for repair. they said "system unstable- rebuilt" but when it returned the screen wouldn't even turn on!!
I had to call support for a third time and send it in -again- for repair... I am now three months in to playing this game with ASUS and still don't have a working machine.

ASUS Support Is Awful 6/10/2014 8:21:25 PM

Pros: It's a solid computer.

Cons: The support is awful. AC Adapter failed after 5 months and they won't send me another one under warranty since I tossed it away. They wanted me to ship it back ( and pay for shipping). The AC Adapter costs $100. Since I no longer have the broken ac adapter, they won't ship me a new one and told me I have to buy another one. I'm not paying MORE money for something that should work in the first place!

Overall Review: I'll never buy another ASUS product again.

Better than expected! 3/21/2014 12:14:52 PM

Pros: Can handle all of my games at the highest graphic settings and still cool to the touch. Quiet and sleek. I was a bit skeptical about the purchase after reading most reviews, but after having it for about a month now. I am loving it! And yes, and Windows 8 was not a problem.

Cons: -----

Overall Review: Will definitely purchase an update when needed.

final update 2/25/2014 3:52:20 PM

Pros: design.
cooling capability
hard drive can read and wright 100mb/s

Cons: heavy and bulky
need big bag to carry it with ease
hard drive> while it can R/W at 100mbs still bottle neck the system start up and shut down time

Overall Review: this is my 2nd g750jw for the past month. and still this machine is completely awesome.

not to critic other`s reviewer but let me correct some of the issue you are having

concerning about the wireless connectivity issue.
You need to manually reset the battery setting to maximum performance under

Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options and then Advance
any of the setting under wireless adapter settings > power saving mode change them to maximum performance.
i got an issue when i unplug this laptop totally slow down the capability of the wireless connectivity from 50mbs plug in to 1 mbs battery mode.

concerning about the track pad. its not that bad.. if you owned a macbook you will be familiar with the size of this trackpad. same size with macbook.

this machine actually last 6 hrs of use under power saving mode watching media. via VLC.

conclusion is at this price range.
this is one of the most decent laptop you can get under $1300

totally recommended to install A solid state drive on this machine so you will experience a 2 sec. boot up time that i wish i got on my rig. -_-

It's basically a big kluge 2/19/2014 11:24:56 PM

Pros: I bought this laptop for my partner to game on. It actually runs games pretty much like my Alienware desktop, and that's saying something for a device that's (generally) portable.

Cons: It's huge. It's heavy. The trackpad is terrible (ours just doesn't work anymore, but before then it only barely worked). The display gets really bright, but doesn't get very dim. Also, it's got halogen-bright status LEDs that shine regardless of the laptop's state, so you can forget about keeping it where you sleep.

Regarding portability, it's pretty unwieldy. It doesn't fit in most backpacks, and the external power adapter is about the size of an actual brick.

Overall, it just seems like it was designed in a hurry without much regard for usability or longevity.

Overall Review: If you want a gaming laptop that you'll actually enjoy using for more than a few months, just get a MacBook Pro and load Windows on it with Boot Camp. $1500/9mo > $3000/24mo.
