How many USB sockets does it take up?

It takes 2 USB. One is actually a pass through for a USB slot on the keyboard. I haven't tried using just one to check if The keyboard works with out the second. I imagine if it's a pass through for the keyboard USB slot then it should.

Is the WASD gray or black?

Accepted Answer

Both.  Without the separate caps that you can add to each key they are black, but they do provide these letter caps that you can add to several of the keys (W,A,S,D,F,Q,R,E) to make them gray.

Question 3

are the macro keys for the Corsair K95 Platinum fast?  Also can you assign them using the software to adjust their speed?
I have a RedDragon K550 and I'm severely disappointed that the macro keys on it are painfully slow, and I'm thinking of switching to this keyboard.  Thank you!

iCUE software is very powerful and you have a lot of control of what the button does, almost too much control.  Huge learning curve but once you understand it, its very good.

Question 4

How quick are the macro keys on the Corsair K95 Platinum?
I have a red dragon k550 and when I click a macro it's painfully slow, has zero software support.  I'm thinking about switching to this assuming the macro keys work as they should, thanks!

Mine work the same as the rest of the keyboard, still has the speed switches and works as soon as you press them. iCUE supports and allows you to do more than I can even think of on the topic of setting a macro, so you'll be good if you decide to switch. Hope this helps!

Can I put Apps, URLS, open Outlook, software progs on G keys if I want to?

Yes, using the iCue software there is an option to create custom macros, launch applications, type preset sentences with a single keypress, and other functions. I don't see an option to load a specific URL, though. Only an option to load the default web browser itself.
