Pros: They are on the lighter side and comfortable for extended use. The ear cups fit are nice and don't cause any pressure points but are a little on the smaller side. The sound quality is average as expected for the price. Has enough bass and no range is bad. I'm no audiophile so not going to try to talk at length about sound quality. Friends I was chatting with online said my voice came through clearly. The mic boom also has a bunch of levels you can put it at and it didn't become loose over time.
Cons: The cord is 6ft which is shorter than I would like. The mute button is flush with the left ear cup and it's really annoying. It takes a couple seconds to locate it and I never got a good muscle memory of where it is. The volume wheel on the back left ear cup is loose so it's easy to move it too far in either direction. It has a loose smooth roll to it rather than notches. I'd much prefer notches so that I can quickly move it up a couple notches or two.
Overall Review: The single 4 pole plug could be a plus or minus. Some fancier stuff can be done on the USB version but with this you can easily use it on lots of devices like tablets that don't have a USB port.
Pros: Comfortable for extended use. Microfiber earpads are a bonus. Also, if you are wearing glasses the VOID headband will not press your glasses uncomfortably against the side of your head (some headphones do). Getting new headphones to fit just right always takes a little effort. Slide the headband to increase its size so it won't press too hard on your head or your ears. They should sit slightly loose rather than very snug if you want to remain comfortable. You may wish to fine tune the headband size after wearing them a few times. Good overall sound with solid, punchy bass that does not drown out finer detail. At medium-to-moderately-loud the bass is nicely controlled and goes deep enough to satisfy. Mids and highs remain smooth and without shrillness. If you want to play REALLY LOUD, look elsewhere (BUT - that would be bad for your hearing anyway!) A volume control wheel is located at the bottom of the left earcup behind the microphone arm. The main headphone cord is perfect for an iPad or similar with it's mic. + phones single plug. The Y-adapter cable splits the single connector plug into two plugs. This may be essential for many users on a PC or laptop. Y-adapter fits snugly to the main cable and seems well made. Microphone boom has several click-stop adjustable positions (lets you move mic. up or down out of the way). The microphone picks up your voice equally well in nearly all positions. Microphone sound has some added emphasis or "presence" in the vocal range which makes you easier to understand for the person you're chatting with. This is especially useful when gaming so your voice clearly cuts through the noise of the game. Compared to built-in microphones supplied with most webcams (including laptops) the Corsair VOID produces superior, clear echo-free sound. On a Windows PC or laptop you will probably want to set mic. recording volume and mic. boost controls at maximum for best results. I found the mic. sound was too quiet otherwise. Microphone has a Mute button on the side of the headphones. If the microphone isn't working be sure the Mute button isn't engaged!
Cons: Upper treble is slightly toned down. The sound isn't dull but it does lack some crispness. For example, cymbals and rimshots in music lack sparkle. I found a touch of EQ on the 4KHz and 8KHz sliders provided that extra bit of attack that was lacking (at least for my ears). The same effect was noticed on several games i tried. For example, in Borderlands 2 the sound was smooth and powerful and a touch of treble EQ brought out the best sound. Your ears may differ!
Overall Review: Some people may find in-ear phones preferable compared to the weight of full over-the-ears headphones. Some in-ear phones have an in-line microphone, too. However, the mic. is likely nowhere near as good as the mic. built into these Corsair VOID headphones and, hey, the VOID's solid bass and overall smoothness will crush most in-ear phones every time. I would say these VOID phones are lightweight enough and comfortable enough to overcome most people's reservations. Regarding microphone sensitivity i found that in Windows 7 and 8.1 recording volume needed to be at 100% and the mic. "boost" slider also needed to be set at maximum for best results. This was true on the home-built PC (ASRock Z97 Extreme4 motherboard with the usual Realtek integrated audio) as well as a Lenovo Y500 gaming laptop (also with Realtek integrated audio). I've been wearing the VOIDs and listening to music while writing this review. They still feel comfortable. My ears don't feel hot, and there's no urge to revert to the $40 Koss earbuds i've been using for the last year. Overall, the Corsair VOID is a well thought out product providing both comfort and good performance.
Pros: Works great. The best thing about this is the single 4 pole plug -- that means it can be used in a newer laptop or an ipod/ipad that uses single jack for both headphones and mic. A nice thing about a non-usb headset is that you use the soundcard in your computer -- these often already have good noise canceling, dolby mixdown, automatic gain control, etc. Being able to plug this into an iphone/ipad is a bonus. Can't do that with a USB headset. Also, this comes with a splitter so you can plug this into a desktop computer or a laptop that has separate headphone and mic jacks. Sound quality is decent -- perhaps a bit boomy in the bass, so it doesn't qualify as audiophile, but on the whole, not bad. The cloth pads really rock, and make this a very comformtable full size headset. The cable has a nice feel to it -- some decent thickness, but its soft to the touch. Its not very long, maybe 3-4 ft, so its really ideal for a laptop gamer. For a desktop user, its fine as long as your case is not too far away.
Cons: This headset comes in USB and wireless version, which seem to have even better ear pads, interesting rgb lighting, etc. Since this headset is just a direct plug in, there is no opportunity to have fancy electronic widgets. The best that it can muster is a (pretty decent) volume wheel that its not to hard to get used to. Also there is a mute (for the mic) button on the left earcup. Unfortunately its not too convenient, and not easy to tell if mute is on by feel. I noticed that when the mute is pressed, the mic is not competely muted. Not sure about that. Keep in mind, that since you will be using the sound card in your computer, you might need to boost the mic sensitivity to get things set up properly. The mic boom, as others have mentioned, doesn't stay bent unless you really bend it hard -- the manufacturer says go ahead and bend it, that is how its designed. So bend away.
Overall Review: For me, the headset is very comfortable -- love the velour pads. It does appear, though, that the more expensive versions of this headset have memory foam. This one doest'n seem to. Back to my favorite thing about this headset -- the 4pole plug -- perfect for using with a laptop (most have single plug nowdays, and an iphone.) Rocks. My least favorite thing is the mute button. Sorry...
Pros: Out of the box, this headset looks pretty good. Had a bit of a heart attack when I was making sure everything was in the box and couldn’t find the Y-Adaptor that is supposed to be included, but finally found it inside one of the ear phones. First I tested the sound through my smart-phone to see if these would be good for listening to just music…overall, the sound produced from these was really great (the bass however was not, see cons). Next, I tested the functionality through my PS4. Overall, the mic performed great as almost everyone I talked with on ESO could hear me. When I connected these to my gaming computer, I ran into an issue with my motherboard not wanting to switch the sound from my monitor to these…still am trying to work through what the issue is with that. Construction of these feels really good. You have a volume/mute controls on the left earphone as well as a tie to hold the cable. The Y-Adaptor helps adapt these to almost all devices. The microphone doesn’t impart my vision during gameplay.
Cons: A few downsides: The earphones get hot for me after an hour or so of gaming. (may not affect you as everyone has different feelings towards over-ear earphones) The bass is not that great when listening to music/gameplay when you increase your volume. The color seems to only come in yellow, which is fine for most, but I wish they had given us the choice of color incase we wanted to match the colors with our PC builds. While I said the mic was great as far as people hearing me in games, it still could be improved as the quality is not quite there. The piece for comfort of your head actually is not comfortable to me…it make me feel like someone has their hand on my head.
Overall Review: Overall, this isn’t a bad starting headset for the first time gamer. For pro’s, you would want to look for something a bit more premium. If I could get these to work with my computer I would have more to offer as far as computer gaming goes. PS4 gaming was great for what you would need for most games. As far as a music listening device, I wouldn’t recommend them if you are going to be sitting on a plane for a couple of hours as your ears will get hot and the these aren’t great for removing the outside world noise. I would just recommend for those who are doing light gaming that don’t want to spend $100+ for a headset.
Pros: Mic: The mic works great. My friends said that I sounded more like myself in real life than my dedicated USB mic. I also like the large, easy to find, mute button. -Looks cool (awesome colors) -Great mic -Good build quality
Cons: Comfort: The comfort was not as good as I was hoping for such a large headset. It looks like an around ear headset by the ear cups were slightly too small. Yes it is foamy but I rather have my ears inside the ear cups instead of partly pressed by them. However, I have definitely worn worse headsets. Sound Quality: The sound is not the most clear and I prefer my gaming headsets to have better bass than these. It is alright quality but not what I would expect for this price of headset -Large -Not the best sound quality -Not the most comfortable -Expensive for what I would rate a $40 headset
Overall Review: In my opinion, the main price goes towards the looks. If you prefer to have a good all around headset, I would probably keep looking. However, if you are going mainly for looks with a unique design and still a decent product, this could be a great option. It does look cool, just wish it was more comfortable and had better sound quality.
Pros: They have a good feel of solid construction, and fit comfortably on your head with no undue pressure either on the sides or on the top. The fully adjustable headband seems to sit just a bit farther forward on your head then some of the other brands I think this does aid in comfort.
Cons: Bass response is not very good, especially the higher you go with the volume.
Overall Review: When I first started reviewing this headset I was unsure whether I cared for the controls on the headset or not I have been so used to using the ones on the cord. After I have used these now for a few days I find that I do actually prefer them on the headset rather than on the cord you always know exactly where they are and don't have to worry about the switch on the cord falling down and having to reach for it and fumble around. The noise canceling mic does a wonderful job I'm using this now on Google dictanote even with the radio playing in the background and find that there is no interference whatsoever. Although I do not do much gaming myself, I use these headsets extensively in on-line chats. My cousin and myself are half a world apart, he lives in Australia near Melbourne and I live in upstate New York. It makes it nice to have him in a chat with these reviews as he can give me direct feedback in real time as I make adjustments to microphone and surrounding noise. The Corsair Void gaming headset has marked well in my review and I can honestly put it within the top 3 of similar headsets that I have owned. Although bass response is not very good at high volumes, the rest of the range seems as clear as you can get. This is certainly a headset that I can recommend to family and friends without feeling that I am steering them wrong. They have a good feel of solid construction, and fit comfortably on your head with no undue pressure either on the sides or on the top. The fully adjustable headband seems to sit just a bit farther forward on your head then some of the other brands I think this does aid in comfort. As a side note I like to point out that I use these review items on Linux machines as much as I can unless I find that the device simply will not work under Linux. Most headsets that use the eighth inch plug work equally well on anything but some of the USB style headsets I have had only worked on Windows machines. Keeping that in mind, anybody running Linux would want to get headsets accordingly. As far as this headset is concerned and the findings of my review I would consider this headset competitive for the price.
Pros: All in all I liked this headset- I found it overall pretty comfortable and the sound quality was very good. Firstly comfort- yes, the pivot points on the headset are a little stiff, so it takes a bit of adjusting to get them to fit your head, but once they were on I thought they were quite comfortable. And you only really have to adjust the headband once, after that you can just keep it at that setting. A lot of gaming headsets are quite bulky and heavy and this was no exception, but the soft earcups and headband made it a lot more comfortable than most I’ve had. After a really long gaming session the weight does become noticeable but if you just readjust a little it becomes comfortable again. Your mileage may vary obviously, but if you’ve tried a larger gaming headset, this is not that different. Secondly sound quality- I had no complaints here. Yes, for listening to music (I have a separate, much more expensive headset for that) it’s not the best but this is a gaming headset, and for that it does very well. I was very surprised at how well it reproduced gaming sounds, especially in shooters, it has very good lows. The big drivers also help for watching TV and movies- spoken words (like audiobooks and podcasts) sound very good. Even for music which is arguably any gaming headset’s weak point, I thought it was pretty good, easily better than most cheapo headphones. It is bass-heavy obviously, but depending on what type of music you listen to, these are really not bad.
Cons: What I did find lacking was the mic quality. Not a dealbreaker but worse than I expected from a mid-high range headset like this. The boom is not super adjustable and doesn’t really stay in place if you bend it so you can’t really position it optimally. Also, recording a small clip and playing it back, my voice sounded fairly muffled compared to a previous 50$ headset I was using. And this was without too much background noise either. You’re still audible but it’s not super clear- maybe for games where voice communication is key, this could be a big deal but for playing pub matches in an FPS like I do, it’s no big deal.
Overall Review: TL;DR summary: Pretty good headset- great sound for FPS/action games, movies and TV. Not bad for most music. Pretty comfortable but a bit on the heavy/bulky side. Mic quality could be better. Fair value for the price.
Pros: Good sound, especially compared to in-ear bud style phones. Not pro sound, but once again read the title. Can wear for long periods comfortably. Controls access ok. Mic good after tweaking settings. Flexibility with Y-adapter and the 4 pole jack. Probably ideal for personal devices compared to a full size pc (see cons). Voice quality pretty good.
Cons: Cord is a little short. I do most things on PC. Of course this is not Bluetooth. Meets expectations for price range. I really cannot fault this with lowered ratings, you just need to go in with open eyes.
Overall Review: I am satisfied so far. It's only been a short while so I hope they hold up as well as they started out. Always like Corsair stuff.
