Do the cups sit on-ear or around-the-ears?

I can get them to sit around my ears. You have to wear them just right to do that though, there's not a lot of space for your ears to go. But if they do sit on your ears the pressure isn't bad and it doesn't hurt my ears like others I have owned in the past.

is this for xbox 360?

I do not own a 360 but I looked it up online, it appears that you will need a headset that has a single plug that handles both the mic and sound for the headset function, the creative fatality headset has 2 separate plugs for mic and sound.  I have purchased 2 pairs of the creative and liked them but recently purchased the Logitech G 35 headset and like it much better, much higher quality and true surround sound, the G 35's come with a USB plug which the 360 appears to have 3 usb ports.  I would play it safer and purchase a set that can be plugged right into the controller.  That is, a headset with the 1 small round plug for both sound and mic.

Question 3

Should I get a sound card for this? Is it worth it to upgrade from integrated onboard audio on the motherboard?

It depends. If you have a Intel/amd  mid-high end motherboard I would say no to the sound card. If you have a low end motherboard then I would say yes. Most motherboards come with great Integrated sound nowadays. There would not be a huge noticeable difference. Hope this helped.

I'm looking to get a set of headphones for my dad. He complains that most headphones are too tight for him. He's about 6'2 if that helps. I'm just wondering if these would probably fit or are likely to be too tight. Can anyone help?

They won't be too tight, I'm 6'5 with a whopper head and the fit just fine. Even if I have a hat on the ear cups extend to fit with no problem.

Does it work with macbook pros?

The audio works but there is nowhere to plug in the mic on a MacBook pro.  At least not ours.  You need to look for something with USB instead of the separate mic and speaker cables.  I just bought some Logitech G 35's and they are a much nicer headset with surround sound which is nice for gaming and they are USB.  I have owned 2 pair of the creative fatality and like them but the Logitech G- 35's are a big step up in quality.

can this headphone get loud?

I have bought and owned 3 pairs of these over the years. Not because they broke, since I broke them in various ways (stepping on them etc). They are great headphones, I have worn them for hours and hours and they have never felt uncomfortable or anything.

I will say that they probably are not the loudest of headsets. I always have them at full volume, and it works great for me but I can see if someone wanted them a bit louder you might be disappointed.

Do these connect to a TV?

Yes, if your tv has a green audio connector you will be able to get sound through them, but would not be able to use the mic. The sound quality is pretty great and the volume control is a very nice feature to have with it while using it with the TV if you cant find your remote

Can I use these with a cell phone to both speak and listen?

It comes with both an audio jack and mic jack, so I wouldn't think so unless your phone is equipped with both.
Plus, my headsets speakers broke a little after a month, so I'd be cautious about it. There's a reason it's cheap haha

I never have got  a gaming headset so why does it have to wires like the pink plug and the white one?

One is for the mic and one is for the audio, plugs into your soundcard. This is an excellent gaming headset, you won't be disappointed.

What type of gaming device does this go to?

It's just a headphone with a microphone built into it. I use it to listen to videos at night so I don't keep everyone awake. You can also use it for voice controle if you set windows up for it and it's a lot more comfortable for  Dragon naturally speaking than their headset. The cord plugs into any 3.5mm headphone jack ( green on your computer and pink for the mic). That includes your smartphone to listen to music. I don't have any games on my computer but I would say it's software dependent, not device dependent. If a game has voice controle this headset will do the job.
