Can it connect to the computer by USB alone? that is the USB connects into the computer and the port on the back of the receipt printer is a USB 2.0 type B?

Most of the TM-T88VI come with USB Type B and Ethernet interfaces plus an extra one based on the SKU# you purchase. In this case it is a serial port.
