Is the USB power cable long enough? It seems small in the picture.

It was plenty long enough for me. I have my port replicator built in under my desk and it reached that fine. I'd guess it is 3-4 feet long.

Is the headphone connection amplified or a passive volume controlled via your PC on screen controls?
