Hello I purchased a Secura DUXTOP 1800-Watt Portable Induction Cooktop Countertop Burner 8100MC  and the controls are all melted on 2 ubnits as people are bringing hte pot too close and therefore melting the units down, my question is which model is NOT going to melt when the heat s too close to them?

I have used this off an on for a few months.  Got it to hold me over when my old Kenmore range gave up. Used it heavily for a couple weeks and since I got a new range only once every couple weeks. The controls have held up well, I don't know about having a hot pot or skillet right on top of them but they do get warm to the touch after cooking for an hour or so.

The only real downside that I have come across is that the unit emits a high pitched whine or squeal when operating.  Some have complained about the noise of the cooling fan but it's no louder than the exhaust fan above my stove.

Says 1100. I've had it on high boiling water and read only 1000 watts at peak. Great unit.

How loud is this?  The manufacturers of Induction cookers really need to include the sound (noise) level in dbA (decibels).

Is the fan fixed speed or variable?  (i.e. Does it get louder on the higher heat settings?)

All of these portable induction cookers have at least one fan to keep them from over heating. Apparently, none of the manufacturers want us to know how loud they are.

This one is not to loud. Out of all the units I have tested this is by far the quietest. While cooking, the noise level is there but that's it.
