I hate and love this case.

Pros: Study, made of metal

Cons: - Doesn't fit 19" racks, the ears are 1/4' out. BAD Design
- Impossible to find proper fans for this case, I had to modify fans to fit correctly for intake and leave the top cover off. The back fan mounting holes are standard 60mm.

Very nice.

Pros: I was tired of having a desktop behind my tv acting as a media center, so I install a small networking cabinet.
All of my desktop components (HP) fit perfecty. It fits in a small 19 inch network cabinet, as long as the cabinet is over 22 inches deep. Nice LEDs.

Cons: - none

Overall Review: There is no place to mount hard drives. So, make sure you buy something like this:

Rosewill RSV-SATA-Cage-34 - Hard Disk Drives - Black, 3 x 5.25" to 4 x 3.5" Hot-Swap - SATA III / SAS - Cage

Solid, metal, rack-mount, with 6 optical bays

Pros: * 2 sets of 3 horizontal optical bays
* Solid metal
* Great simple looks

Cons: * No vibration dampers on the drive cages
* My rack (DIY) is about 1/16" narrower than spec and the flange screw holes don't provide extra slack that an older case did, so it's really hard to screw it in
* Hard to unscrew one screw on each of the drive bay cages to remove them (rear outside one doesn't have a cut-out like the front outside one does)
* It doesn't come with rails (not knocking for that at the price I got it for, though)
* Heavy (kind of 'duh')

Overall Review: Mine has different drive cages and cross-bar than the one in the photo. The cross-bar, instead of having fixed fan spots, is narrower and has two fan holders you can slot in where you want and screw down to secure them. I bent one 90° to make it act as a wire holder instead.

I'm using a 3-optical-bay to 5-drive hot-swap adapter (iStarUSA BPU-350SATA-RED) on one side. Looks nice, though there's a slight gap around the hot-swap bays. The blue HDD power LEDs/red activity LEDs match the blue power/red HDD LEDs of the case, which the power LED itself is really bright and shines through the front of the case. Looks almost like a black-light on the carpet at night.

For the price I got it on sale for I think it is better than my previous case, but not having loops for handles does make it slightly harder to drag out and carry. I'd almost rather have had no front locking cover and instead had the two bottom 3.5" bays be externally accessible, but I imagine few are going to be using these in a situation where that makes sense. Overall, I think it's a decent case and don't have any big gripes about it.

Pleasantly surprised

Pros: I was surprised how heavy and sturdy this case is for the ~$80 pricetag. As mentioned in a previous review, the case varies slightly from the pictures on Newegg, in that there are two internal fan brackets, not three. If you check out the iStarUSA site they have the photos of what the current case looks like inside. Also true you have to remove the entire cage to mount your drives. For me this is not an issue. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the case for the price. Even the packaging was good enough to withstand a ground shipment without any damage since Newegg just put a shipping label on the box. Very pleased with this purchase.

Rackmount

Pros: Lots of places to add fans, cooling. Room for mobo.

Cons: Adding/Removing from the 5.25" bays requires complete disassembly of the unit.

Good case for good price

Pros: There is really nothing about this server case that isn't good. It's a 4U case for $99. I have this case holding (2) 3 to 5 bay converters and mounted 2 mirrored hard drives for the OS under the cages for a total of 12 hard drives.

This case has a top bar that will house 3 fans promoting solid air flow inside of the chassis as well. I removed this bar due to the 3 to 5 bay converters having fans on the rear of the converter boxes.

We are using this at home for a NAS box, in a RAID 5 configuration. It's got plenty of room for future expansion all while running a 6 core 3.8Ghz AMD processor and 16GB of ram.

If you put two cages in to convert the 3 bays into 5 3.5" bays, you will loose the option to have a ROM/ RW drive installed. Once the OS (WHS 2001) was installed, I removed the ROM drive and installed the secondary converter cage.

This can also be rack mountable if you were to purchase a rail kit.

All said, I'm planning on purchasing 2 more of these and putting them all in a LAKRACK

Cons: None that I can see

mounting

Pros: did everything what I want it to.

Cons: only 1 I had. for some reason the mounting brackets outside the case are too big for my cabinet, anyone else have this problem? they just screw off and I can grind the ends.

Good case, some flaws

Pros: Overall solid construction, 4 U case with a good amount of room in it.

Fits a number of different board form factors.

Standard ATX PSU

Plenty of extra screws and assorted pieces included

Not as deep as some other 4U cases I have seen, which equates to not being quite as heavy, which is nice.. still plenty of room though.

Not a massive 24 bay storage machine like my norco 4224, but for a multipurpose tower system that i wanted to throw into a rack that can hold 2 dvd burners, a fan controller, and a 3 to 4 5.25 converter this fits the bill perfectly, and for an excellent price.

Cons: Minor:

The way the 5.25 brackets work is inconvenient... wouldn't take off points for it, but it's annoying to have to take the whole stack out should you need to switch anything (like the 3.5 mount at the very bottom).

Gaps around 5.25 bay components range from reasonable to quite large depending on the specific component... again not a huge deal, but worth noting there can be a bit of a gap.

The power led wires had to be reversed on mine to work properly... and it's not the board because i've had it in other cases without that problem.

A number of the edges are quite sharp... nothing major if you approach it carefully, but if you are trying to fit wires in while not having to take the whole thing apart and move everything, it's easy to scrape your hands up... easier than some other cases.

I had to file down very slightly, some of the edges on the front fold-out door in order to get it to stop scraping/squeaking when opened and closed.

Major:

Airflow could be better, there are a number of dead zones where airflow just isn't there.
I mounted 1 3.5 drive below some dvd burners on one side, and the drive was overheating after light usage and dropping out. Moving it elsewhere resolved the issue, but I don't understand how you are supposed to get airflow to a smaller component wedged tightly beneath potentially longer components (even 5.25 bay converters overhanging would cause this issue) above that shield it even more from airflow.

The version of the case I got does not quite match the pictures here. The middle bar that holds the fans is different, and the fans have individual holder brackets instead of 1 3 fan bracket shown in the picture. I like the design i have better... however, I only got 2 of the 3 fan brackets... so i only have 2 80mm and 2 60mm fans (and 1 other 80mm on the back of a 3.5-5.25 converter)

Overall Review: Can not figure out what the extra bracket things are. They are slotted as if to fit in the middle bar, but their original intended purpose remains a bit of a mystery.

Seems like the front grill in the middle could be made just slightly wider to accommodate mounting another 80mm fan, which would be extremely useful.

Overall a great deal on the case wouldn't hesitate to buy another despite some of the cons i listed.
